With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

A very good stout - bot I'd expect nothing less from AV. Great aroma, color, and flavor. Very good!

Dark opaque and almost black with a brown head that was bubbly and not too high. Sweet with coffee and chocolate aromas. The taste has a tart smoky quality with a hint of bitterness. Not overly heavy, but vertainly not a weak stout.

Nearly opaque with reddish highlights. A nice creamy tan head produced above average lace. Love that Oatmeal stout aroma, it's all there, but a bit weak. Chocolate mocha, coffee, oats, caramel, aromatic hops, touch fruity and earthy yeast esters. Smooth, creamy, lush mouthfeel led to a rich bittersweet taste with a acadic citrus and twangy smoky undertone and finish. Nice! Surprised at the low rating, I liked it a lot. My #3 sweet stout at this moment.

This puppy was wonderful. Black as night, aroma just a bit thin, but a fantastic thick chocolate, roasted barley coffe, taste, second taste was as good as the first, aftertaste was top-notch,placed in my top 20 list

A really BLACK stout can make out no other colours even when held to the light! with a massive "coffeen'creme" coloured head that lasts the whole glass. The aroma is pleasant but on the weak side compared to other "oaties" I have tasted. Taste though is good..starts with a small smooth maltiness, then the oats show through followed by a nice dark chocolate bitterness. Very smooth and creamy on the palate. A very nice Oatmeal stout.

I'm surprised that this beer isn't rated higher. I enjoyed the coffee flavor and aroma. Smooth with a medium-high mouthfeel.

This was the first beer I tried from Anderson Valley. Nice dark brown color, with very little head. It was rather hoppy for a oatmeal stout. Great coffee flavor and aroma. I found it extremly easy to drink.

Pours out black with no head.Sweet roasted coffee aroma. Nice coffee flavor with molasses flavor mixed in.Chocolate comes as the beer warms and is there in the finish. The finish is also rather dry and slightly hoppy which is suprising. A decent stout

ANother 6 year old bottle that has held up remarkably well. Tan head faded fast but the beer kept it's body. Lots of dry coffee notes.
