Beerman6686 (1266), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 7, 2008 Poured black with a small tan head. Aroma is chocolately and smoky. Flavor is sweeter than the nose with a nice burnt coffee finish. Tessic (439), Brantford, Ontario, Canada May 6, 2008 This stout poured a deep black colour with a nice rich tan head. To the nose there is scents of cocoa, oatmeal, cream and smoke. First taste is smooth and smokey with flavours of cream and molassass, with a tiny bit of chocolate. Finish is thick and lasting with the smoke flavour. DubC5000 (195), San Diego, California, USA May 5, 2008 Jet black body with minimal head. Dark chocolate and bacon aroma, accentuated by hints of sweet malt. Creamy chocolatey flavor, lots of dark malt with a pleasantly nutty, lightly salted aftertaste, along with a little wheat. No hop bitterness, with only the slightest grassy hop flavor. Thick, molasses-y mouth feel. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA May 4, 2008 Deep brown with a thin slowly dissipating tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, oatmeal and coffee. Flavor is heavy on the roasted malts with molasses, oatmeal and chocolate as well. Mild bitter finish. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA May 1, 2008 It poured black in color with a thick head of fine light-brown bubbles. The aromas were sweet with scents of maple syrup and oats. The color and scents have me expecting a thicker, richer beer than reality brings. The palate was rather light and smokey with some bitter hops evident on the finish. WeeObese (18), San Diego, California, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bottle. Deep dark brown color, with a medium sized tan head. Great initial smell with roasted malt flavors and almost a slightly bourbon/oaked aged flavoring(?). Bourbon/oak flavoring vanishes, giving way to roasted chocolate malt aromas. Flavor is well balanced between roasted, chocolate and hop flavors and slight oat-like finish. The mouth feel is slightly lighter than I prefer for an oatmeal stout. Overall a very drinkable beer with good balance. skmikeg (70), Poway, California, USA Apr 27, 2008 very creamy, rich flavor. notes of choclate and coffee with a little hoppyness to it. overall all, a great oatmeal stout. GriffinAvenue (395), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA Apr 26, 2008 Bottle. Dark oak black color. Limited beige head, mostly ringing the glass and lingering. Mocha, coffee, somewhat milky and creamy in aroma. Nutty. Flavoring is flat, like black coffee gone cold, albeit with more pleasing finishing notes. Thin in body, certainly smoother than most oatmeal stouts. It’ll work but memorable enough to come back to.
