Aromas of toasted oats, fruits, smoke and chalk. Taste is smokey oats mixed with some roasted malts and cigar tobacco. Light flavors of dark fruits on the finish. Easy to drink. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 17, 2007 On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Opaque jet black with a thin, fine, medium-tan head. Sweet, dark roasted malt aroma with pronounced fruitiness over a perceived oatmeal toastiness. Sweet and malty with "burnt" grain, toffee, fruit and raisin flavors. Body is surprisingly thin and light for the style which leaves a somewhat unsatisfying finish. jason (1621), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 14, 2007 Pours pitch black with a massive dark tan head. Nose is thick with chocolate. Not overdone by any means. Flavor is thick with a mild coffee edge. The flavor doesn’t really live up to what has preceeded it. Overall quietly sweet. Feel is pretty thick as you’d expect from the style. Very drinkable. Upon my first sip, I probably downed 1/4 of the bottle because it was so smooth and I couldn’t help myself. Overall a pretty darn good oatmeal stout. Taverner (837), San Ramon, California, USA
