Commercial Description:
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

Bottle 12 oz. - Poured brownish black color with thick tan head. Aroma - very light chocolate malt and maybe oatmeal. Flavor - very nice smooth milk chocolate taste, makes for easy drinking!! Palate - creamy medium mouthfeel with good carbonation. Finish is somewhat sweet with little aftertaste. Overall - Very good Stout, not much for aroma but taste makes up fot it!!!

Black color with a little head that doesn’t seem thick at all. Aroma consists of chocolate, oatmeal, and a little bit of coffee. Taste is pretty much the same. This has a nice and smooth coffee finish.

Nose is very roasty, big roasted malt character. There’s a pleasant soy sauce armoa too, seriously. Big deep chocolatey espresso like malt, dry cocoa powder finish. Hop bitterness rounds out the flavor at the end, but the roasted malt & chocolate are center stage. Very drinkable.

Another solid but unspectacular beer by Anderson Valley. Fits all the attributes of the style, doesn’t excel in any of them except maybe mouthfeel. Decent roast flavor, perhaps a bit sweet on the front, but not terrible. Any more and it would have put me off.
