Anderson Valley Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout

I may have gotten a different bottle of this than most people, as I wasn’t very impressed. Poured to a dark brown with thin tan head that dissipated fairly quickly and left oaky lacing. I had to work to get much aroma, which was faintly malty chocolate-toffee. The taste was also a fairly sweet, but faint, chocolate, and was undone by the watery mouthfeel of this thin-bodied beer. The finish was also hgihly influenced by the thin body, and was short, watery and a little stale. Not as good of a beer as I expected.

Bottle. A very easy drinking stout. Maybe, too easy, a lttle thin but the flavors were all there, chocolate, coffee, roasted flavor. I enjoyed this one.

Decent flavor to this one, lots of roasted flavor, with a bit of sweet chocolate, hops, bitter on the aftertaste, easy drinking brew.

completely opaque black appearance with thick rocky tan head. oatmeal and chocolate chip aroma with some hops and buttermilk. flavor is thin with chocolate chips, hints of coffee, toffee, and carmel and lactic acid. very thin and boring mouthfeel.

Murky black with reddish hints. Smells like oats and a little piney. Deep roasted oats taste, a little coffee, nice bitter finish. Winking Lizard Tour 2007

a full flavor stout, dark in color, roasted aroma and hints of coffee in the taste. not all too bad.

(Bottle) Pours dark to black. Roasted aroma with dark bread, black berries, liquorice and coffee. Just a touch of vanilla and hops. Roasted, liquorice flavour with a burned ending. Notes of coffee and dark bread. Pretty round mouthfeel. Light sweet and light bitter. Medium body.
