MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Aug 30, 2009 A sim rate (bottle at magicdave’s): aroma has a roasty, milk chocolate and licquorice aroma that’s quite nice. Tart, bitter, dark chocolate flavour that’s just not quite full enough to impress. Quite a good beer but just not great. amg800 (34), Ada, Michigan, USA Aug 28, 2009 Sample glass from the brewery. Dark as night in the glass with deep amber reflections. Nose of earthy oatmeal and hints of hops. Flavor held the same earthy oatmeal accompanied by a sweetness that i couldn’t pinpoint. thirdeye11 (403), Texas, USA Aug 26, 2009 ( 22oz bottle thanks to ballewblake) Pours black with brown edges, light brown head and nice bubbles. Nose is unleavened bread, yeast, oats, graham crackers and chocolate. Taste is slightly watery, chocolatey. Mouthfeel is viscous and the carbonation is quite velvety. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Aug 23, 2009 bottle thanks to ballewblake i think. dark choclate with a cream head. oatmeal, sweet malts and slight toastiness. not bad on the palate with a good roasted oatmeal flavor that finishes with a little bit of chocolate. very smooth and easy to drink though. punkrkr27 (608), Berkley, Michigan, USA Aug 20, 2009 Tap. Black pour with a small, loose, tan head. Subtle milk chocolate aroma with sweet coffee and cream notes and a hint of vanilla. The flavor is a little aqueous upfront with some strong, roasted oats and a cappucino like finish. The body is a touch thin but creamy with low carbonation. yalnikim (776), Wellington, New Zealand Aug 18, 2009 Shared with my dad 05/08/2009. 12oz from Beerstore. Really nice rich dark ale that is so balanced and clean that it actually borders on Schwarzbier, or even a Dunkel. SorenE (110), , New Zealand Aug 13, 2009 solid oatmeal stout. smooth aroma and flavor of milk chocolate. smooth palate but a bit thin. good but not wow. dnstone (135), , New Jersey, USA Aug 12, 2009 Light in texture with a balanced palate and taste of coffee and oatmeal.
