3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smells like chocolate but tastes rather light on the coffee and chocolate though they’re still present. Little bit of hay, little bit of cereal, little bit of prune. There’s a mild smokiness to it that is really divine. Very drinkable.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
355 ml bottle bought at Craftissmo in Tsim Sha Tsui East.
Clear, deep blackish brown colour with faint trace of yeast sediments; Half finger head and beige foam which fades in 20 seconds; Moderate sticky lacing and zero carbonation; Fragrant and slightly sweet aroma of roasted malt, with light black coffee, toffee, fresh bread, light cherry, chocolate, cream, caramel and light grass; Close to light sweet taste of dark roast malt, with strong smoke, strong nuts, light sea salt, light coffee, toast, very light chocolate, light wood, faint lemon and light herbal hops; Mid to light body, slightly slick and quite smooth palate; Mouth Feel is strong smoky and nutty, but also very easy-going, with all the tastes are on the light side - coffee, sea salt, toast, wood and hops. Chocolaty taste is very thin. Pretty smooth palate. All makes it not quite a typical stout. Okay… Hoppiness is light grass nose, light woody lemony herbal taste. Very light to faint bitterness, Just salty-smoky-nutty finish; Dry after taste, very easy and smoky to mouth.
Comments: This is not a typical stout, with the usual coffee and chocolate characters in short supply. Rather, it has a light touch in stout-ish aromas and tastes. Strong smoke and nuts palates dominates, with a pinch of sea salt. Feels like drinking slices of smoked salmon fillets, which is quite interesting. Decent but not great.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from the Beer Emporium, Bristol. Near black in colour with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of milk chocolate, prunes, roasted malts and a hint of wood. Flavour was sweet, with plenty more chocolate and dark fruits and some liquorice, before a gentle finish. Good.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Roast, chocolate cocoa, with some hop presence in the nose and flavor. Not as velvety as I would expect from an oatmeal stout but still a solid stout on the sweeter end of the spectrum.
