Commercial Description:
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

A pretty good attempt at an oatmeal stout but it falls short on my levels. Theres little malt flavor it’s missing something.

Black body, small tan head. Nose is of roasted malts and chocolate. Full bodied, sweet up front flavor with the roasted finish. Not bad.

12 OZ bottle via HOPSCOTcH (thanks!).Pours black with a small tan head. Nose is coffee, chocolate, lactose, oats and a bit of roastiness. Taste is mostly roasted chocolate and oats with some mild hops in the finish. Over carbonated. An ok oatmeal stout.

bottled. One of the stouts in blind tasting. Pours an opaque black with a thin off-white head. Aroma of coffee and smoke. Med-light body and light carbonation. Some roasty malt and coffee in the taste. Dry finish with a bit more coffee. OK, but hard to get excited about this one.

Bottle. Pours jet black with a light tan head. Smells a little sour and funky; possibly a bad bottle and I’ll definitely re-rate given the opportunity. Thin, watery body; not much happening there--light carb. A little foot and some sour funk on the palate as well; some subdued chocolate and roast are there. Dry finish; nearly vacant.

A good, if not light stout. This is a beer for winter. This beer makes you want to replace chestnuts with malt roasting on an open fire. Has the richness of a stout without the lingering aftertaste.

Chocolately and light roasted malt aroma. Very dark in appearance with a solid brown head. Smooth palate--but not very full. Evenly balanced flavors with a good dose of roasted malt.

Not a bad stout. Pours black with malty aroma. Flavor is sweet malt with coffee tones, finish is more bitter than some other oatmeal stouts, but still a very enjoyable brew.
