VeloVampire (483), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 13, 2006 12 oz bottle shared with StompBrockmore - pours black with a frothy brown head. Good. Lots of oats right away in the nose, plus that smoky roasted barley and dark chocolate malts. Some hints of espresso in there too. The taste is much the same, but ultra smooth and SWEEEET, MAN. Really drinkable for a stout, almost could be a session if the well-hidden alcohol didn’t knock you on yer ass after a few. And then it slips down your throat and that’s all she wrote - short and sweet. Literally. StompBrockmore (300), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 13, 2006 12oz bottle, shared with VeloVampire - pours very dark with a dark mocha coffee head, a bit like the crema on a good cup of espresso as it diminishes. It looks good. Aroma is a huge blast of smoky roasted oats and malt. The flavour is very sweet - this is probably the sweetest stout I’ve ever had. Very, very smooth and sessionable. Goes down shockingly easy and for the style I found this surprising. More oatmeal and coffee in the flavour with a very short and sweet finish. I like a long powerful finish in a stout and this one was really lacking that regard. Decent, not exceptional. radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Nov 7, 2006 Bottle. Very dark pour. Dark tan head. Slight smokey aroma, with roasted malt and coffee flavors. Full bodied and not too bitter for a stout. sunevdj (1765), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Nov 3, 2006 Blind rating, American Beer Tastings at Sk8viking´s. Pours a nice, dark brown with a light brown head. Smells very smoked. Flavors of roasted malts and coffee. Slightly sour. Hints of cofee and band-aid. Weekish finish with coffee- and sourness. Slightly dissapointing taste compared with the smell. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 1, 2006 On draft at Issac Newton’s. Pours dark with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. The flavor is chocolate, roast, with some bitterness in the finish. Good beer. ehhdayton (1113), USA Oct 26, 2006 Pours black with a light tan head. The aroma is roasted coffee, chocolate, and some raison. Has a light sweet flavor with a roasted coffee bitter finish. ThomasE (5179), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 23, 2006 Black colour with a light brown head. Roasted malty aroma with notes of coffee and chocolate. Light roasted malty flavor with a vague coffee bitterness. lalubeer (57), Canada Oct 20, 2006 Thin grey head, aroma is very interesting: roast, raisins and coffee. Sweetish flavour, roasted coffee. Full bodied, a very good stout.
