jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA May 2, 2006 Pours a solid black / dark brown with a frothy tan head. Aroma is mild, swwet with a touch of malts. Taste is much deeper. Great blend of coffee, chocolate, bittersweet, malts, and roastiness are present here. Nicely balanced from start to finish. starfireming (309), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 1, 2006 Fine medium ecru head. Nearly opaque espresso colour. Fabulous toasted oats scent. Nice thick mouthfeel. Bitter dark taste, quite lovely. Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 1, 2006 Pure black body, with a tan head. Good oat aroma, that for the first time is not overpowered by the coffee bitterness. Nice thick body, good oats again (very present), bitterness from roasted hops also adds a nice touch. Sweet, clean ending. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 1, 2006 Dark black color with a medium brown head that mostly dissipates. Sweet roasted malt and bitter aroma. Lots of roasted malt, medium coffee, and light bittering. ratman197 (3141), Arvada, Colorado, USA Apr 23, 2006 Bomber poured a nearly opaque black with a lasting brown head. Aromas of coffee, hint of bakers cocoa and a bit of licorice. Palate was medium bodied and crisp [for a stout]. Flavors of coffee, bakers cocoa and roasted malt with a crisp lingering bittersweet finish. Folkstar (6), Redondo Beach, California, USA does not count Apr 21, 2006 Not bad, but a little dissapointing. The taste is nice and tart, but the aftertase lacks a little something I can’t put my tongue one. Don’t pass up this beer without trying it, but, I’d rather drink an Ale and eat a bowl of oatmeal instead. piscator34 (1121), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Apr 15, 2006 Black in colour with slightly lower than average carbonation. Very nice milk chocolate aroma, along with secondary notes of coffee. More of the chocolate and coffee thing in the mouth, along with some nice dark crystal malt notes and a touch of oatmeal sweetnes... although everything was a bit more muted than anticipated. Only medium bodied, which again, was a bit of a surprise. A solid beer, but not in the same class as some other stouts that I’ve tried. Malakin (465), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Apr 6, 2006 Black with a brown head, nice roasty aroma. Good roasty malty flavour with a salty and slightly dry finish.
