jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA Mar 27, 2006 Pours black with a surprisingly dark one-finger head. Wonderful chocolate and coffee aroma. Light oatmeal and a very slight hop presence. Roasted malt and milk chocolate dominate the flavor. Ends on a lightly hoppy note, with a sweet, nutty finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Very good. I found some floral lily notes in the aroma amidst the strong coffee roasts. Creamy mouthfeel with a flavor that alternates effortlessly between sweet chocolate and bitter coffee. Sweet and fruity yet savory notes after, adding a mouthwatering saltiness to the finish.
P.S. I might have me a "collector’s item" bottle as mine ended up with the back label from AVBC Summer Solstice!

smcd (366), USA Mar 11, 2006 (22oz Bottle. 03/2006 ... etc.) Thick, viscous, black. Creamy, brown head. Dark chocolate and roasted, almost but not quite coffee, notes. Earthy. Almost no hop bitterness but a definite balance as the finish is clean and dry. Big, velvety mouthfeel with a medium-full body. Long lingering rich, dark maltiness. walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA Mar 11, 2006 Bottle. Thick black color with creamy brown head. Not a whole lot in the nose-- some faint dark chocolate, roasted barley, and earthy hops. Very well balanced flavors of roasted barley, dark and milk chocolate, coffee, and piney hops. Creamy mouthfeel with smooth carbonation, medium body, and a pleasant lingering chocolate and coffee aftertaste. Really nice!
