yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 25, 2009 12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small chocolate brown head. Aroma is smooth chocolate and oatmeal, dark roasted malt. Smooth mouthfeel, yet lighter than I would have expected. Mild bitterness, smooth roasted malt and slight chocolate flavoured. Smooth lingering roasted malt flavoured finish. tyanow (10), California, USA Jul 18, 2009 Almost opaque, with a light brown head.
Roasted, malty, cereal smell and flavor that both bear sweet hints of chocolate and nut.
Smooth and full body with a perfect tad of bitterness.
This is as good of an oatmeal stout as I have ever found, and I seek them out. obguthr (987), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Jul 17, 2009 Relatively weak but nice aroma of mushrooms, roasted barley, and charcoal. Black, thin tan head. Wonderful blend of charcoal, smoke, and coffee notes. There’s even a hint of licorice. Damn, I wish I could find coffee this good. Wispy smoke finish. Man, I love a good oatmeal stout, and this good! Tasty, yet sessionable. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jul 15, 2009 2.99$ Are you kidding me? You dudes in the states got it lucky, man. If I ever see this up here it will be no less than 8.99$. I spent over 400$ on beer in Vegas and only 1$ gambling - and that was my wife trying to hit it big after taking a squirt.
I think this was the 4th beer of the night. Poured out ink black with a small brown head that lives on as a ring and leaves lots of silty, spotty and ropy lacing. Sweet! Sweetness wafts into my nose. Incredible from first smell - this stuff is heaven in a bottle, can’t wait to taste it. I’m cheating and tasting now.... (load in my pants). Smooth milk chocolate rules the day on aroma. Soft roasted malts. Somehow as this warmed it retained that COLD chocolate milk smell. Slight nut (maybe) and a very hidden, late arriving spice that might come from the hops... or not. Great, smooth chocolate taste, a bit of light bitterness in the finish. Straight forward on the taste and little complexity. Perfect! Why f up such a savoury elixir? One dimensional is all you need because that chocolatey taste is to die for. Well carbonated, very full bodied, creamy mouth feel, mild bitter finish with a coating of chocolate. It is rare that a beer impresses me instantly and continues all the way through. I love chocolate beers that lack bitterness. Russo (595), Campinas, Brazil Jul 14, 2009 very dark color with a brown head, just like a coffee. Aroma is roasted malt and some chocolate notes; Flavor is kind of sweet and bitter, notes of coffee and toffee. Mouthfeel is bitter but left a sweet sensation like chocolate or something like that, is really good. Good stuff! mbgrayson (141), Anaconda, Montana, USA Jul 10, 2009 A creamy rich stout, with a nice chocolate and roasted carmel flavor. Not much bite, fairly smooth and very drinkable. This is the kind of stout I can drink again and again. Thumbs way up. Cybercat (778), Georgia, USA Jul 7, 2009 Comes out of the tap a rich brown-black with a nice thick tan head. Strong aroma is smoky and malty with firm tones of coffee, smoke and chocolate. Rich flavor is smoky and subtly chocolaty with a coffee undertone and hints of toffee and molasses. Texture is pleasingly smooth, yet tingly and lively.
