FoolishMortal (965), San Diego, California, USA Jul 28, 2005 Opaque black, small light tan head. Some roastiness, with a mellow bittersweet chocolate tone in the aroma. Rich mellow roast malt flavors with tinges of cocoa. Some nuttiness in the finish. Mouthfeel is silky and medium bodied. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Jul 27, 2005 Bottle: Black, foamy beige head, very nice lacing. Roasted malt nose, dry grainy/straw, very light cocoa. Apple skin, cocoa, slight coffee, roasted malt, a bit astringent and sour on the tongue. Moderate body and mouthfeel, not as full or thick as I would have thought. Semi-sweet cocoa like finish, but with an odd astringent bitterness. Decent, but just has a weird flavor about it that I cant pinpoint. A bit too Oyster Stoutish maybe? Something seems too fishy... stick with Loast Coast 8 Ball.

Roasted malts, and bitter sweet milk chocolate, caramel for the sweetness, graininess from the oats and lightly hopped. Very drinkable and very easy going, but could have a little more body. This would be a good stout for a newbie.
