Hooker (450), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Jun 19, 2005 Jet black colour with thin fast fading chocolate brown bead. Mild chocolate malt nose with underlying roasted malts. Medium roasted malt tatse with bitter roasted finish. noattention (20), California, USA Jun 17, 2005 Best oatmeal stout I’ve ever had. Strong taste of chocolate and malt. Excellent. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Jun 4, 2005 Bottle: Very nice roasted coffee aroma with chocolate and light black licorice. Pours a very dark brown, virtually black with a small tan head that is short lasting. Flavor of roasted coffee, grain, licorice, light chocolate. A sort of fruitiness hides in the background. Lightly hopped roasted coffee finish. A very nice stout. Chocolate flavor started off light, but really got bigger the more I drank. biggcb (459), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 26, 2005 Definite malt and chocolate in the aroma. Pretty nice balance bewteen the 2. Fairly dark brown in color with an admirable creamy tan head. Overall a nice stout, but nothing stood out. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Apr 24, 2005 Bottle. Blackish beer with a big mocha head. Sweet malt/chocolate aroma with a touch of outmeal. Chocolate flavor with a bit of roastiness. Silky mouthfeel. SuIIy (1406), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Apr 9, 2005 Nice pour with dark body and light brown head. Smells of espresso and oats. Tastes very creamy and smooth with a nice full body. Chocolatey, smokey taste ElJefe (553), Rochester, New York, USA Apr 7, 2005 Black with a medium sized brown head. Espresso, chocolate and caramel nose. Roasted coffee and caramel in the flavor. Silky smooth. JFGrind (1346), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 7, 2005 I sampled my Barney Flats as suggested on the back label, as a nightcap. The oatmeal stout poured coffee black with slight tan lace. Roasted aroma, medium body with creaminess, and a crisp not so sweet finish. The bottle I sampled had its own ’Amazing Race’, brewed in Cali, imported to Puerto Rico and mailed to Philadelphia. Makes me wish this was more than an average sweet stout.
