lordsummerisle (17), New York, USA Jun 18, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Overall very good flavor with chocolate, coffee, oat, and nutty notes. Well-carbonated. A little thin palate-wise in my estimation but that doesn’t prevent this from being a classic oatmeal stout. m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA Jun 18, 2009 Tap at Library Alehouse in Santa Monica
Pours with a lit. brown head that sits ontop of a black hue.
Aroma is of chocolate, dark fruits, coffee, oats, and lettuce - weirdly enough
Flavor is sweet, and chocolatey in the beginning followed by a watery finish
Syrupy texture with light carbonation. BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Jun 18, 2009 On tap. Pours with fluffy brown head and a deep brown body. Aroma of brown sugar, oat meal, chocolate and coffee grounds. Taste it is creamy chocolate, oatmeal cookie, nuts (pecans), light roast. Creamy carbonation. jimmbo123 (37), Washington, USA Jun 14, 2009 Updated: Jul 27, 2009Creamy texture, sweet but not too sweet. A lot of flavors: toasted, roasted, nutty,
molasses, caramel, chocolate,
coffee. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jun 13, 2009 Pours deep dark void with 2 minute mocha head. The mild aroma emits roasty to burnt malts, sweeter chocolate and malt notes to go along with a dash of earthy oxidation. The taste begins both sweet and roasty and moves toward sweeter malts, black licorice and then some tasty chocolate notes. The chocolate sensation gets quiet nice toward the finish where it becomes more and more roasty and charred like. ruberbox (14), California, USA Jun 13, 2009 I have been drinking this beer for a while now and absolutely love it. Don’t get me wrong I love my imperial stouts but for a nice sessionable stout this is the ticket. Creamy and smooth with a wonderful texture. This is comparable to the Samuel Smiths and quite a bit cheaper. Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 12, 2009 Bottle. Large off-white creamy thick head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Black color. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, light creamy like notes, oat, light chocolate. Over the palate came roasted malty and light dry dusty grainy feel. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with a hint of bitterness. Roasted malty sweet finish with a hint of coffee. vulcanmeister (102), La Grande, Oregon, USA Jun 5, 2009 Aroma - Carmel, burnt sugar, rich dark chocolate
Appearance - Deep reddish black with extremely long lasting small tan head.
Flavor - Medium sweetness, light bitterness
Palate - Medium, creamy, average carbonation, long luxurious finish.
