With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a very dark ruby color. There’s a nice two finger head with a khaki shade that caps the body off nicely. Retention is good, texture is great, and plenty of lacing is left behind. This one looks damn good. S: This is what I’d want a solid oatmeal stout to smell like: decent chocolate notes, plenty of roast, and oatmeal to tie everything together. No twists or turns, just a really good aroma. T: It starts with a bit of cola flavor. The finish, though, is excellent: it’s chocolaty, roasty, and bitter in all the right ways. While simplistic, it really makes good use of what it has to deliver an enjoyable experience. M: Yes, this is rather thin in body. The rich flavor means this is still a good one to savor. But man...if it had a full body, that would really take it over the top. I still enjoy how creamy it is in the mouth, and there’s only enough carbonation to help it go down well. O: Oh yeah, now this is the stuff. It’s not perfect, but it’s damn enjoyable - it would be in the 4+ range if it weren’t so thin or overly cola-flavored. I would definitely buy this again.

BBE 24.06.2016.

Reviewed from the can; Tin Cow is a can only place. Caramel and nutty nose. Flavors are the same. It’s definitely good enough to order/buy again and enjoy the fuller experience out of a glass.

Poured from a 12 OZ can into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Columbia, SC. The appearance is pitch black with a tan head. The aroma is malt driven and matches the taste, excellent oatmeal stout.

From tap dark and nice. Nose rather small but with caramel and malty Gints. Taste is fresh and light for a Stout with oat present. Palate also fresh and light.
