crizay (1069), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Jun 23, 2005 Updated: Jun 28, 2007 Black pour, huge tan head. Roasted malts, and bitter sweet milk chocolate, caramel for the sweetness, graininess from the oats and lightly hopped. Very drinkable and very easy going, but could have a little more body. This would be a good stout for a newbie.
timsilvia32 (116), born in Michigan, North Carolina, USA Jul 19, 2008 Poured black, light head. Good roasted nose. Roasty coffee, malt, very slight dark chocolate as it goes down. Pretty straight forward but solid, good version of an oatmeal stout. msante79 (185), Illinois, USA Jul 18, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown and sits black in glass with tan head that disapates to thin film. Aroma is roasted malts, oat, chocolate and some hops. Flavor is rich and creamy with roasted malts, chocolate and some oat. I let it warm up and it gets more complex as some coffee comes out in flavor. Rich and complex. A nice suprise. RunDWP (111), San Jose, California, USA Jul 14, 2008 22 oz bottle purchased at BevMo. Poured a jet black colr with a thick tan head. Nice roasty, coffee and chocolate aroma. Dense, roasted flavor with coffee and chocolate bitterness. Just a little hops presence at the end. No sweetness to speak of in the taste, which isn’t a bad thing. Silky mouthfeel. Really enjoyed drinking this one. Gregis (861), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Jul 11, 2008 Bottle purchased at Corral Liquors in Granite City, IL. Pours jet black with a dense, creamy, khaki head and sheeting lace. The nose is a muted blend of sweet chocolate and roasted malt. The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium-bodied and silky-soft with a lightly bitter-roasted finish. Nice. The flavor expands upon the nose with sweet, almost lactic chocolate up front, dark roasted malt and just a touch of hop bitterness to finish off the flavor profile. This is a fine beer and one that I would buy regularly if it were available locally. boFNjackson (482), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 6, 2008 Bottle... Poured black with a light brown head. This is a great stout! Aroma of oatmeal cookies. Really smooth silky palate, a nice contrast of heavy and light. The roasted malt flavors dominate while sweet, oatmeal and chocolate notes rise in the background. Finishes sweet and robust.
