With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

Tap. Ultra dark brown with diminishing tan/brn head, fair lace. Aroma is rich, creamy, dark roast malt & grain w moderate hops. Nice, fresh, clean, silky rich flavor as described above. I had this after a pils which made it seem fuller bodied at first but as I drank it it developed a bit of a thinness on the palate. Very nice flavor however. A pleasant oatmeal stout to drink, balanced very nicely with the hop bitterness.

Poured from a can into a tumbler on 04.15.14. A: Motor oil. 1/2 finger tan head. S: Toffee, caramel, coffee, milk chocolate. T: Milk chocolate, coffee dominate. Roasted malt is there too. M: Creamy. O: This is a perfectly balanced oatmeal stout. It is sweet, but it doesn’t go too far. It’s very subtle all around in terms of flavor.

This beer pours a very dark color with a moderately fluffy tan head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is a burned malt and coffee smell. The flavor has a very unnecessary hop character with the most prominent flavor being the roasted malts and coffee. I really did not enjoy this beer because it reminded me more of a porter than it did a sweet stout. The hops gave it a bite where it should have been smooth and easy to drink.

Quick head, thick brown color to head and body. It doesn’t taste as bad as it smells. But it has and odd chocolate/vegetabletaste. Definately needs something else in the taste department.

Black, tan head, nice and creamy for a bottle beer. Roasty malts, coffee, hint of chocolate in the flavor, with any bitterness seeming to come from the roasting rather than hops. Pretty good, but could have been fresher.

Black, but not as sin, with amber shallows and little head. The prominent oaty molasses bite of this brew gives it an exciting flavor. The aroma is pleasantly strong. This beer definately has character.

Really enjoyed this stout. Dark color with nice head. Smokey flavors with nice coffee, chocolate and roasted malt characteristics.

Poured from bottle. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma: chocolate, dark fruit. In taste also ash. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Balance towards bitterness. Some bitterness from roasted malts, hops bitterness in finish.
