With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2005 Poured black as midnight with a soft tannish head. Dark roasted, coffee, and delicious chocolate aroma. Rich chocolate, creamy mocha coffee, and slightly bitter at the finish. Medium-bodied and somewhat thin. Overall, this is a tasty stout that would be delicious with quality chocolates.

12oz bottle, shared with VeloVampire - pours very dark with a dark mocha coffee head, a bit like the crema on a good cup of espresso as it diminishes. It looks good. Aroma is a huge blast of smoky roasted oats and malt. The flavour is very sweet - this is probably the sweetest stout I’ve ever had. Very, very smooth and sessionable. Goes down shockingly easy and for the style I found this surprising. More oatmeal and coffee in the flavour with a very short and sweet finish. I like a long powerful finish in a stout and this one was really lacking that regard. Decent, not exceptional.

Can from Systemet. Almost tar black with a nice brownish head. Firmly malty aroma with a lot of caramell. A bit to carbonared with a prickly palate. Surprisingly thin and flat taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown liquid, chocolate brown head. A bit alcoholic aroma with malts, wheat, oat and a bit of roasted coffee. Taste is a bit more watery than expected, sadly. This comes along with wheat, malt, medium sweetness. Bread, some oats and hops in the aftertaste.

Pours a deep black color with a huge tan head (looks like a stout should). Aroma is chocolate, coffee, nuts, resin, and cereal. Taste is butterscotch, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and nuts. The palate on this is probably the best part... so smooth and thick.

Poured from bottle. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma: chocolate, dark fruit. In taste also ash. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Balance towards bitterness. Some bitterness from roasted malts, hops bitterness in finish.

In short: smooth oatmeal and recently made bread beer. Aroma is hoppy and liquory, taste is beetween coffee/roasted sensation of hot bread, palate is licorice and hoppy. Incredible beer, like the liquid version of spiced chocolate homemade bread.

Butelka. W aromacie słodka czekolada, kawa z mlekiem, owsianka. Kolor bardzo cziemny bursztyn, prawie nieprzejrzysty. Piana niska beżowa szybko znika do zera co zdeczka martwi. Wysycenie troche za wysokie jak na stout. W smaku pierwsze skrzypce gra słodycz czekolady i kawy z mlekiem, jest też specyficzna oleistość i gęstość dzięki dodaniu płatków owsianych. Na finiszu lekkie akcenty ziołowo miodowe i niska goryczka. Gdyby nie wysycenie to byłoby bardzo sesyjne piwo no i minusy za pianę, mimo tego warto spróbować.

Fine medium ecru head. Nearly opaque espresso colour. Fabulous toasted oats scent. Nice thick mouthfeel. Bitter dark taste, quite lovely.
