3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 3, 2013 Rating Date: 12/2/2011: Draught pint at Beachwood Brewery. Light, brown sugar-colored head dissolves with lots of sticky lacing that stays stuck. Body is very dark red nearly opaque. Aroma is weak basement and sweet smoke. Taste is mild salt and medium bitter with a bittersweet finish. Palate has a thin feel though body is medium with fine lively carbonation. Overall a bit thin and subtle for my appreciation of an oatmeal stout though pleasant. A, 6;A, 4;T 6;P 3;O 16;Total=3.5.
Rating Date: 4/3/13. 12oz Bottle. Same as above, but aroma is more malty like sweetened wholesome oatmeal. Aroma is better from the bottle.

pours a beautiful dark chocolate, with frothy chocolate milk colored head. aroma of coffee and oats, some minerals/earthiness. tastes of coffee, chocolate, oats and toasted bread. despite strong presence of roasted/toasted flavors, the flavor is balanced by creaminess, as per the oatmeal stout style. the palate is full and silky. an excellent oatmeal stout, very complex.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer poured a darker color with a tan head. It had a pleasantly earthy aroma and a complex flavor of oats and chocolate that was well balanced with hops. It is a good brew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On Tap: Opaque black. Tan head, nose of malt and some burnt toast. Flavor profile starts very malty and turns slightly burnt toast bitter during the after taste, which I think is rather unusual for the style, lots of roast. Very creamy, especially on tap.

Oh, this is a good stout. Very thick with a nice mouthfeel. I taste lots of licorice in it. Not too sweet, but just right. An excellent stout.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark, short lived head. Strong flavor, not as sweet as some others in this category, but very flavorful. A solid beer, but not as good as I would have hoped for the 9.99 I paid for a six pack.
