With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

Was a good oatmeal stout, but has a lot of competition that is out performing this brew head over heels!

Bottle. Beautiful clear black, brown color, with a fast diminishing brown head. Bready, coco, phenolic smell, very promising. Dry taste, with well balanced sourness/bitterness. More thin texture with a flat carbonation, typical. Aftertaste has some toasty, malty, bready notes, but also something fresh and fruity. This is a great oatmeal stout, love it from the first sip!

12 oz bottle - Dark brown-black in color. Tan head. Strong coffee aromas with some hops sneaking through. Great flavor of coffee and hops. There is something dancing on my tongue unexpeted from a stout. This is a very enjoyable beer. Perhaps one step away from a CDA?

Tap at Library Alehouse in Santa Monica Pours with a lit. brown head that sits ontop of a black hue. Aroma is of chocolate, dark fruits, coffee, oats, and lettuce - weirdly enough Flavor is sweet, and chocolatey in the beginning followed by a watery finish Syrupy texture with light carbonation.

Hops and celery salt dominate the aroma. Mocha and hops flavoring, with a chocolate and celery aftertaste. Seems incomplete.

MIld burnt aroma. Also mild sourness. Like to feel thikness even thou its only 5.8% abv feels fullbodied. Only somethin missing in palete it seems nice, but bit to simple. Bonus for color.

A nice almost black pour with a thick brown head - aromas of deeply roasted malts, alcohol, coffee - rich sweet flavor with molasses and toffee followed by alcohol and a lingering roasted marshmallow

I'm hoping that the one I tried was from a bad batch or something, because it was horrible. No head, extremely watery on the palate, and absolutely no hints of oatmeal (pretty bad for an oatmeal stout). I was really disappointed with this one. I hope others by AV don't follow suit.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown/black color with a light tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate and coffee are readily apparent. Similar flavors. Has a bit of a bite on the finish, medium to heavily bodied.
