Bottle @ Spiesy’s gaff. Coffee aroma. Blandish coffee tinged with vanilla. Creamy texture. Pleasant and flavoursome but lacking character other than the chocolate.

Sampled at Badgerben’s Cellar Reduction Night. Pours a dark root-beer brown brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind a ring and fine film. Aroma of dark roasted malt, some flowery hops, coffee, some smoked oats and a touch of chocolate. Taste is medium to full bodied, very lightly carbonated with some smoked malt and semi-sweet hop character. Finish is semi-sweet, creamy, smooth with a slight dark roasted oatmeal aftertaste.

Bottled. Poured a healthy deep brown with a creamy cap of medium beige head. The aroma picked up nicely roasted semi-sweet chocolates, cocoa, and lactose sweetness.. overall, sweet, malty, and enticing. The flavor had sweeter chocolates and oats at the core, surrounded by moderate coffee and chocolate bitterness.. lenghty finish picked up some odd tarry notes along with some sweet chocolate and coffee bitterness. Medium-bodied with decent balance.. bit tacky at times. This was a good one.

Thickish and boldly roasted stout. Fine to share at end of meal, but was too much for earlier in the day or even with anything but dessert. Coffee in there. A tad sourish. Very dark. Bittersweet chocolate and nutty. Smooth but some grain on tongue.Dry finish.

Bottle (12oz). Poured lively dark brown-black with a big foamy-creamy-rocky light brown head. Lots of dark roast/burned malt, bitter chocolate, resin, coffee, celery (yes! - thanks, jerc), moss and chestnuts. Taste starts creamy-chocolate, then an odd camphor note creeps in, then the hops and the bitter chocolate coffee distracts you, then the chocolate seems a bit sweet, then salt, then some sour cherry and grape seed - this has a lot happenin’! Mouthfeel is medium to medium-light bodied, bitter and a bit creamy-sticky. Very nice - overall a touch sweeter than ideal, but recommended - very drinkable, not at all heavy.

Botlle.Quiet dark brown with very small tan fine ring on top. Good aroma of soy, dark roasted grains and sweet brown sugar followed by good dose of acidic hops. Medium bodied, maybe a bit thin/flat. Roasted malt is quiet decent, mocha java in the middle, sweet creamy finish.3.25/5

Dark black color, medium head. Slight caramel aroma. Deeply roasted malts, slight chocolate and coffee flavor, not very oaty. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Lighter bodied Oatmeal Stout. Very drinkable.
