Commercial Description:
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

mellow bitter composite makes this a really good one. cherry dessert wine infused and some brandy. real classy. still refreshing and a bit... watery. so out of the expresso, coffee, chocolate, molasses that we know we have with all of these stouts. daring and different. due to the quality tastes and freshness combined with the easy drinkability i cannot find any reason to go below a 4 on this beer! this could easily make a stout guy out of this hop head. mellows well in the glass. barely a hint of alcohol, this is what you drink when things are good and when they go bad. bravo! excellent bitter on the finish - there - then gone.

A solid stout. I don’t know if I would go with the claim that it is one of the most complex stouts on the market today, but it is solid. Roasted malts, oat, and a little chocolate flavor and aroma. Good flavor, but it actually seemed a little thin. Still worth a try.

If you haven’t had this one, you should try it. It’s what an Oatmeal stout should be. Nice and dark, thick and smooth mouthfeel. First time I saw it was yesterday and had to pick one up. The only one I think is better is Brown’s Oatmeal stout. Which by the way if you like oatmeal stout’s you should try that one too.

What a great beer this is. Had been seeing this on the shelf at Tanakaya for months now and finally decided to give it a try. Cracked this open while at home halfway through watching A Clockwork Orange and enjoyed it immensly. Body was very black with a good-sized off white head all cushiony and billowy. Chocolate smell lifted up to my nose from the pint glass and I took the first sip. Wonderful creamy rich mouthfeel showcasing a well balanced flavour selection of chocolates, roasted barley, coffee, chocolate ice cream, hint of vanilla and cherry, and some of that oatmeal in there as well. Finish was long lasting and kept me thirsty for the next sip. Looking forward to drinking this one again.

Dark brown/black, roasted malts, coffee, oats, little chocolate, little wood, little molasses. A little thin.

Black in color with a medium sized, light brown head with little lacing. The aroma is of turkish coffee, chocolate, oak, and molasses. The flavor is suprisingly sweet throughtout with notes of molasses, coffee and chocolate. The palate is watery. It’s not a bad stout, but the texture was a big let down and I felt the flavor was somewhat bland...decent I guess, but nothing special.
