With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

This quite probably the best Oatmeal Stout in america, and a contender for best over all. Pleasant mix of fresh oats and roasted chocolate combine for a very pleasing smell. A decent head with excellent lacing in a 16oz pint glass. The taste is thick and savory, nutty sweetness blends in well to form an almost perfect combination, there is a hop presence but its mild enough the bitterness doesn’t interfere.

jedno z tych zwykłych piw, które smakują bardzo dobrze. Gładkie, pijalne i dla mnie osobiście jeden z wzorców stouta

Dark brown, lasting tan head. Medium body, light flavor, rather thin texture despite oat, avg length. Crisp, off dry and moderately bitter. Simple roast flavors predominate, coffee ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black body, small brown head. Great aroma, lots of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and dark fruits. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, smoky notes and dark fruits. Medium-full body medium-low carbo. Long bitter roasted finish that end with some dryness in the mouth. Great stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

cracked the 650ml 22oz bottle I have some smoke came out and I could smell stuff from a distance and it smelt different closer to face and in glass. Brown/tan head dark black beer with a tad little red at bottom. Smell is chocolate, oatmeal, raisins, cherry?, a little roasted smell perhaps. Taste it’s a think watery(ish)beer that is medium bodied with taste of chocolate, oatmeal, some raisins and cherry and a tad roasted on the finish. Starts off wet on lips but drys out moments later and may taste a tad sour also. Not the best oatmeal stout/stout or the worst. Cheers.

Woooow, heaven. The beer is pitch black and pours a thick creamy layer of brown foam. The bulk of the foam disappears, to leave a decent amount of foam behind. Just enough to create a nice foam mustache. The beer has a nice plain smell. There is a sweet almond aroma, linked to the aroma’s of roasted barley. I also smell hoops, which combine really nice with the roasted barley. The beer has a nice hoppy taste, a little citrusy sour and refreshing. The roasted flavor is nice and bitter, but may have been stronger. The beer has a very nice fruity flavor. The sweetnes, sourness and bitternes are in good balance, but a little tiny bit more bitterness could not harm. A really nice beer.

Aroma of rasins and grapes and caramel. Dark colour with a brown fast vanashing head. A bit sour flavours. At first rasins and grapes, a bit watery and then some breads and roasted malts. A bit dry and little hoppy and sour finish.

Californian oatmeal stout, for sale at the Albert Heijn supermarkets in the Low Countries nowadays. Thinnish but moussy, light tan head, consisting of fairly large bubbles and breaking fairly quickly but leaving a stable rim around the glass, residing over a hazy, very dark burgundy coloured beer with ochre hue, blackish in its ’soul’ but still transparent, at least at the edges. Classic and fairly simple, but flawless stout bouquet of bitter chocolate, roasted coffee beans or cold black coffee, much caramel, cured meat, dried banana, blueberries, dates, raisins, leather, bayleaf, toasted bread, hint of furniture varnish, all quite mild, and working well together. Sweetish onset, raisins and figs, with soft carbo, smooth and oily but rather thin, even a bit watery mouthfeel even for this ABV, with still the typical ’silkiness’ of oatmeal which lends this beer a deep, vague grain sourishness; a certain metallic feel pops up as well. Nice caramel malts paired with a more chocolatey touch make up the main flavour in the middle phase, roasted bitterness only truly revealing itself upon swallowing and lingering a bit, though it is the caramelly and softly but still lightly bitter chocolatey malts which make up the main part of the finish; a dash of peppery, gently bittering hops is there as well. The subtle sourishness of the oats also linger. Alcohol remains perfectly hidden, as it ought to be for a beer of this ABV. Accessible, easy-going stout, technically well done, can serve as a perfect introduction to the oatmeal stout substyle.
