With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass. I like the fact it was in a can.. Kind of unique for a stout. Beige/white head, quickly disappearing, super thick and dark body; No chance of transparency. Not much on the aroma side of things. Great taste, not overpowering, but dark malts, that nice "oatmeal" thickness to it. Slightly dark chocolate taste as well. Everything is blended fairly well & not overpowered in one department over another. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650ml bottle. Pours black with a one and a half finger, tan head that sticks. Aroma is malty with mild notes of dark chocolate, roast, dark fruits, caramel, and fruity, English yeast I think. Taste is balanced and smooth. Chocolate, nuts, bready caramel, and dark fruits with a roasted malt aftertaste. Medium-full body with a medium carbonation. Smooth and creamy texture in the mouth with a slightly dry finish. Overall really nice. Great flavours with and easy drinking.

650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a very dark brown with slight reddishness and modest-sized beige head. Aroma is dark roasty malt with coffee, chocolate and some fruitiness. Flavour is roasty with cocoa, coffee and a distinct red grape character. Mouthfeel has the oatmealish creaminess. Nice.

Bomber from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass. Deep brown black with a full, mocha head. Rich dark-roasted malts with some grape jam, a little molasses as it warms. Medium+ body, fairly creamy, moderate carbonation. Flavour is similar to aroma with a bit more molasses and interesting sweeter malt notes; lightly sweet with moderate bitterness and a nice, roasted malt and molasses finish. Pretty good.

650 mL bottle. Nice pour. Nice creamy body - the oatmeal, I suppose. Nothing extraordinary in the flavour department. Just a solid brew.

Bottle from LCBO. Strong roasty chocolate aroma. Not-as-strong taste, roasty and creamy and moderately bitter. Dry finish. Nice.

Bottle 35,5cl. Blavk with a brown foamy head. Nice smell of coffee, and roasted malt. Very smooth and nice taste, but not as full bodied as I’ve expected. Hints of hops and a medium lengt.

Smells quite nice, roasted malt, dark cocoa and chocolate notes. Very dark, long lasting creamy brown head. Interesting light taste, upfront some dark malt, finishes with metallic notes, grassy hops and a hint of soy. Not too intense, fairly refreshing for an oatmeal stout. Well balanced but not overly complex. Average carbonation.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Dark & moody stout that offers a moderate cap that vanishes quicker than a plate of nachos at the pub after work. A pretty decent oatmeal stout that hits all the marks of coffee, roasted malts & smooth finish. An interesting cherry cola note sustains through each sip. Good, but not even close to some of the over really high scores below. Recommended.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Can to snifter. Pours black, head reduces soon. Aroma is straw and oats like you would feed a horse--like a barn. I am a country guy, I suppose. Barnyard follows to taste, plus a nice roasted malt and chocolatey taste, with a pleasant bitter finish with a note of coffee grounds. Aftertaste of a burnt roach and not the crawling kind (I miss that). A damn good country stout. A go-to craft stout for me. Score: A Reply to above accuser: this is not a fake review. Im a country guy and I like this stout; what can I say? Cheers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
