The flavor is slightly sweet with a nice hppy finish. Tasted of espresso. Mouthfeel was smooth. Moderate carbonation. Outstanding. bigal9699 (152), Orange County, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 3, 2002 Deep dark color. Brownish hued head, not creamy, more of a ’carbonation’ look. Tasting notes of coffee, syrup a bit of dark chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. I thought the flavors could be a bit more pronounced - still a solid beer, just looking for a bit more forward flavors. bac080 (398), Boardman, Ohio, USA

Not an amazing beer, there were no flavors that jumped out at me or anything, but still a solid sweet stout. LiebeBier (793), Annapolis, Maryland, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 13, 2003 A really BLACK stout can make out no other colours even when held to the light! with a massive "coffeen'creme" coloured head that lasts the whole glass.
The aroma is pleasant but on the weak side compared to other "oaties" I have tasted.
Taste though is good..starts with a small smooth maltiness, then the oats show through followed by a nice dark chocolate bitterness.
Very smooth and creamy on the palate.
A very nice Oatmeal stout. GreatStelle (360), Chico, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 8, 2003 Attack of the Monster Head! It was like some kind of chemical reation that refused to stop. Couldn't get the whole bottle into the pint glass right off. Nothing over complicated about the palate except for that bit of bitterness, which was lasting but mild in the finish. There's a noticeable creaminess, but I was hoping for a bit more from an oatmeal stout. Easier to drink that some other stouts I've tried recently.
