COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

This beer was my kind of stout. velvety smooth and rich. Like most stouts pours very dark with a light brown top next to a small head. Aroma of caramel, malt, chocolate and vanilla. This stout was very easy to drink and had a very soft hop flavor and bitterness right on the back end. This was a nice drink. I will be getting this one again for sure.

Fantastic, sweet stout!! Great, malty aroma, nice dark, opaque appearance with chocolate colored three finger head and almost total lacing on the glass. The taste made me fall in love with it!! Mouth feel is creamy and thick, very little bitterness, with roasted malts, chocolate and coffee on the finish. This is a great stout, highly recommended!!

I wrote a review for this years ago and it’s disappeared. It was one of my first high end oatmeal stouts and set the standard. Served at a good temperature and I poured a small to medium sized tan head that settled to a light cover that lasted all the way down and some lace. Color is an opaque black brown. Aroma is malt, roast, cocoa, hint vanilla. Flavor’s like nose with just right carbonic tang and some bitterness that all balance just right. Body is full and carbonation is exactly right. Finish is like flavor that slowly taper over a while. World class beer.

Pours solid black with a brown head that starts off thumbs width in thickness and dwindles down from there, leaving a slight head on around the edges and in batches across the rest of the surface. A rich and sweet oaty aroma from the malts partnered with a supporting chocolate. Absolutely beautiful. Overall, I’d say this falls into the sweeter side of oatmeal stouts. Starts off sweet with some cocoa and coffee flavor, middle you get the characteristic oaty flavor, and finishes off with a great roastiness. A wonderful moutfeel to this; velvet, creamy, and medium bodied. Simply a great oatmeal stout, my biggest complaint is that it isn’t more readily available here in Denver. This should be a staple in every liquor store.

This beer introduced me into the wonderful world of Oatmeal stouts. This beer is velvety and dark. Pours thick and smooth with a caramel colored and scented head that lasts a decent amount. The rich coffee, caramel, toffee and slight vanilla aromas meet a delicious smooth taste that seems to coat in inside of your mouth. Easy drink and great introduction into O.S.’s and stout in general for the dark beer weary.

Love this beer overall. Pours a deep dark brown with a nice frothy head. Roasty aroma of coffee, chocolate, nutty caramel and creamy malt that all carry over into the smooth creamy taste.

Based on the aroma alone, you know this is going to be good. The taste is rich and not bitter with an overall smooth and balanced taste - very flavorful with oat/caramel/chocolate notes and a bit of hop. Color is very dark, not quite black but what you’d expect from a stout.

Bottle. Beautiful clear black, brown color, with a fast diminishing brown head. Bready, coco, phenolic smell, very promising. Dry taste, with well balanced sourness/bitterness. More thin texture with a flat carbonation, typical. Aftertaste has some toasty, malty, bready notes, but also something fresh and fruity. This is a great oatmeal stout, love it from the first sip!

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Can to snifter. Pours black, head reduces soon. Aroma is straw and oats like you would feed a horse--like a barn. I am a country guy, I suppose. Barnyard follows to taste, plus a nice roasted malt and chocolatey taste, with a pleasant bitter finish with a note of coffee grounds. Aftertaste of a burnt roach and not the crawling kind (I miss that). A damn good country stout. A go-to craft stout for me. Score: A Reply to above accuser: this is not a fake review. Im a country guy and I like this stout; what can I say? Cheers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
