With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

Appearance: dark, dark brown to black with a dark brown, slightly purplish one-finger head that shrinks to a solid collar and leaves lots of lacing. Aroma: rich with toasted dark malts, oats, chocolate, coffee and coffee creamer. Taste: slightly sweet café mocha, toasted oats with a distinct smoky character, black bread with chocolate chips. Finish: smooth, sticky, slightly sweet and the slight smoke remains for quite awhile. Notes: Phenomenal sweet stout. The smoky oat character is wonderful, and the palate is velvety and full. Very enjoyable.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle. Aroma is great, roasted coffee and chocolate. Color is a dark brown with a tan head. Flavor is great, nice coffee and chocolate flavors. Mouth feel is nice too, perfect carbonation and full bodied. Overall a very good oatmeal stout I will look forward to again. (My other favorites include Samuel Smith’s and Firestone Walker)

Quick, bubbly sandy-colored head. Toasted, malty aroma. Grainy, toasted, definite oatmeal, spicy taste. Very dark colored. Overall excellent.

When it comes to darker, richer beer, I love a good oatmeal stout and this is one of the finest. From the moment I poured the bottle into my glass I knew I was in love. Great aroma of chocolate, coffee and caramel malt. Nice and thick with a dark brownish almost black color and a thin white head that is quickly gone. Thick and heavy mouth feel that matches the appearance. Taste is mocha, coffee, chocolate, caramel and maybe some chestnut or something like that. Very subtle hops. This is one of my new favorite stouts and beers period. Will get this one again very soon.

An excellent oatmeal stout. Extra point for can instead of bottle. Someday we will all wonder why all beer was not canned. And for those of you that like drinking out of a bottle; shame on you. Also extra point for awesomeness of their brewery and its practices. Sometimes I wish I lived in the Anderson Valley.

Pours coffee black, with roasted coffee, mocha, raisinette aroma, featuring sweet full-bodied malt-forward aroma and palate, finishing with a lively carbonation and subtle hop bite. This is a very nice oatmeal stout!

Love this oatmeal stout, roasty and smooth. This beer will get you out of the bed in the morning. Nice and dark with a short head.

Full-bodied and black as night with the taste of licorice, chocolate and freshly roasted coffee. Wonderfully balanced!
