With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Can to snifter. Pours black, head reduces soon. Aroma is straw and oats like you would feed a horse--like a barn. I am a country guy, I suppose. Barnyard follows to taste, plus a nice roasted malt and chocolatey taste, with a pleasant bitter finish with a note of coffee grounds. Aftertaste of a burnt roach and not the crawling kind (I miss that). A damn good country stout. A go-to craft stout for me. Score: A Reply to above accuser: this is not a fake review. Im a country guy and I like this stout; what can I say? Cheers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

When it comes to darker, richer beer, I love a good oatmeal stout and this is one of the finest. From the moment I poured the bottle into my glass I knew I was in love. Great aroma of chocolate, coffee and caramel malt. Nice and thick with a dark brownish almost black color and a thin white head that is quickly gone. Thick and heavy mouth feel that matches the appearance. Taste is mocha, coffee, chocolate, caramel and maybe some chestnut or something like that. Very subtle hops. This is one of my new favorite stouts and beers period. Will get this one again very soon.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2013 Excellent smooth roasted oatmeal stout. Very easy to drink and slightly sweet with a coffee aftertaste.

An excellent oatmeal stout. Extra point for can instead of bottle. Someday we will all wonder why all beer was not canned. And for those of you that like drinking out of a bottle; shame on you. Also extra point for awesomeness of their brewery and its practices. Sometimes I wish I lived in the Anderson Valley.

Pours coffee black, with roasted coffee, mocha, raisinette aroma, featuring sweet full-bodied malt-forward aroma and palate, finishing with a lively carbonation and subtle hop bite. This is a very nice oatmeal stout!

Love this oatmeal stout, roasty and smooth. This beer will get you out of the bed in the morning. Nice and dark with a short head.

Full-bodied and black as night with the taste of licorice, chocolate and freshly roasted coffee. Wonderfully balanced!

Sweet and thick, with a nice burnt-chocolate flavor. Strong alcohol aroma - just like an Imperial Stout (my wife could smell it on my breath from across the room). But damn it was good. Warm and soothing, a nice after-dinner beverage.

In short: smooth oatmeal and recently made bread beer. Aroma is hoppy and liquory, taste is beetween coffee/roasted sensation of hot bread, palate is licorice and hoppy. Incredible beer, like the liquid version of spiced chocolate homemade bread.
