COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

Bottle. Beautiful clear black, brown color, with a fast diminishing brown head. Bready, coco, phenolic smell, very promising. Dry taste, with well balanced sourness/bitterness. More thin texture with a flat carbonation, typical. Aftertaste has some toasty, malty, bready notes, but also something fresh and fruity. This is a great oatmeal stout, love it from the first sip!

UPDATED: DEC 4, 2014 Can to snifter. Pours black, head reduces soon. Aroma is straw and oats like you would feed a horse--like a barn. I am a country guy, I suppose. Barnyard follows to taste, plus a nice roasted malt and chocolatey taste, with a pleasant bitter finish with a note of coffee grounds. Aftertaste of a burnt roach and not the crawling kind (I miss that). A damn good country stout. A go-to craft stout for me. Score: A Reply to above accuser: this is not a fake review. Im a country guy and I like this stout; what can I say? Cheers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

An excellent oatmeal stout. Extra point for can instead of bottle. Someday we will all wonder why all beer was not canned. And for those of you that like drinking out of a bottle; shame on you. Also extra point for awesomeness of their brewery and its practices. Sometimes I wish I lived in the Anderson Valley.

Love this oatmeal stout, roasty and smooth. This beer will get you out of the bed in the morning. Nice and dark with a short head.

Full-bodied and black as night with the taste of licorice, chocolate and freshly roasted coffee. Wonderfully balanced!

Sweet and thick, with a nice burnt-chocolate flavor. Strong alcohol aroma - just like an Imperial Stout (my wife could smell it on my breath from across the room). But damn it was good. Warm and soothing, a nice after-dinner beverage.

In short: smooth oatmeal and recently made bread beer. Aroma is hoppy and liquory, taste is beetween coffee/roasted sensation of hot bread, palate is licorice and hoppy. Incredible beer, like the liquid version of spiced chocolate homemade bread.

650ml bottle from LCBO, Shops at Don Mills. 5.3% alc./vol. Pours an opaque dark brown colour with 2 finger of lasting tanned head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee Light body with moderate carbonation. Taste matches the aroma with a pleasently dry finish. Beautiful lacing clinging to the side of the glass.

Pouring this deep brown turns out as oily black in glass, short frothy and thin brown head. I like the color. Sweet and malty with syrup, salty licorice, bit medicinal herbs, dark berries, inviting and delicious aroma. Oily, soft, round, carbonation balances, medium body, long medium roasted malty finish, semidry. Nuanced, soft, thick with flavor but body and carbonation keep this from getting too heavy. As it is this is surprisingly easy to drink. Enjoyed. As this warms it gives lots more mocca and chocolate, lively..just gets better as I sip this.

Very nice beer with a great aroma & taste. Figs and chocolate pulled together in a dark smooth beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
