COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With its deep, dark brown-black color, thick, full-bodied, velvety-smooth mouth feel, mocha character, and, strong yet subtle hop bite, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout is one of the thickest, richest, and most complex stouts on the market today.

Opaque body, with a tan head that diminished to just a thin layer. Sporadic lacing. Milk caramel and chocolate chip cookie aroma (after it sat for a couple minutes). Deep, semi-sweet roasted malt flavor initially, and then it quickly transforms into an instant coffee-like bitterness. Average carbonation, smoothness, and weight for the style. Not a bad stout, but I was actually expecting a bit more from this brewer. This is their second-highest rated brew, I do believe, and I have to say that surprises me somewhat.

From can. Thin pour, black with decent foamy head. Mild roasted barley with coffee overtones. Quite insipid - nothing much going on in the flavour.

Bela oatmeal stout, bem americana com amargor pronunciado e associado ao torrado, café e chocolate dos maltes, melhor na versão garrafa do que a na pressão (pelo menos aqui no Brasil, depois do barril viajar desde o EUA).

My 200th rating. Pours a nice brown amber beer with a good white head. I smell resins. Taste like coffee and creamy. Also a bit roasty. The palate is good.

Solid but not overly impressive oatmeal stout from this O.G. Cali bunch. Nice inky pour, though the body looks as if it’s not quite as silky or robust as the best examples of this style usually are. Nice nose of soft chocolate and dry roasts. A bit thin indeed, as it turns out. Flavors are pretty nice, with moderate hops and some rolled oats coming together well with the chocolate notes. Again: solid.

Can. Pours brown with a half finger of tan head. Aroma is dark malt, mildly roasted, roasted oatmeal, malty, and nutty. Flavor is roasted malt, roasted oatmeal, dark malt. Moderate carbonation. medium body, and smooth texture. A mildly roasted, sweet oatmeal stout. Pleasant and drinkable.

Bottle 335ml @ home. Whoa, it’s one of my fav beer styles. Full appretiation on the warmer side only! Don’t drink it when it’s cold!!! App: pitch black/very dark brown with very nice, beige, small bubbled & low reducing but lasting head. Aroma: upftont typical english yeast, all of dark malts, hint of plumes or other dark fruits, maybe alc too. Mf&taste: mild carbonation, very solid sweetish-malty backbone, followed by roasty, coffie&bitter sweet chocolate. Silky, smooth aftertaste with hop bitterness and slight warming - without excessive sensation. Alcohol very well hidden :) Overall: excellent o/m stout! Could be even session beer, but beware of almost 6% abv :)

Well balanced color, medium foam, strong dark color. Roast malt smell strong through nose. Even tastes of oatmeal, comes through as beer warms up. Ok flavor, I prefer it cold. Overall good.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

08-MAY-2013, can @home, from systembolaget, brought home by Marianne, thx:-) Black with creamy off-white head. Aroma is chocolate and vanilla. Taste is slightly roasted with again chocolate and vanilla and a touch of spice. Very smooth and creamy body and soft carbonation. Perhaps the best part of this. Really easy drinking. I like this, and would rebuy if I lived nearby.
