3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 20, 2013 12oz Bottle. The pour was a deep dark black with a large (2-3 finger) light brown rocky head that was mostly diminishing and had good lacing.
The aroma was of roasted cereal malts and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of bakerís chocolate, molasses and a dark french roast coffee.
The taste was mildly malty sweet with a hint of coffee and a touch of molasses in the beginning and finished with a bold roasty sweet flavor and had a mildly bitter chocolate-coffee overtone. The flavor lasted an average time proceeding the swallow, with a lightly bitter roasty taste left lying on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was very close to full in body with a smooth creamy texture and a somewhat mild carbonation.
Overall this was a very roasty and satisfyingly bold brew that possessed a good smooth drinkability. This is a beer that is definitely worth having more than just one...

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rich and complex chocolate aroma, top stuff. Flavor is a bit of a disappointment considering a great aroma, no bitterness presence or roasted malts... Long and satisfying aftertaste thou, chocolate and coffee. Good one, I would expect a richer body when it comes to oatmeal stouts

Aromat zbyt delikatny. Piwo treściwe, a w smaku wyraźnie czuć dobrą kawę, mimo to piwo nie jest kwaskowate.

Based on the aroma alone, you know this is going to be good. The taste is rich and not bitter with an overall smooth and balanced taste - very flavorful with oat/caramel/chocolate notes and a bit of hop. Color is very dark, not quite black but what youíd expect from a stout.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Fuerte aroma a tostado y caramelo. Color café muy oscuro. Agradable al paladar suave y con cuerpo. Sabor muy tostado como tomar café. Final seco. Buen ejemplo de una stout avena.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. can, consumed on 9-4-14. Malty, tinny, tarry aroma features a plum scent. Subtle and refreshing smell. Pours an opaque, dark brown with a large amount of dark beige head. Very nice, even head with a creamy consistency. Produces some lacing. Simple but enjoyable taste emphasizes the roasted malts and features a dark chocolate flavor. Dry, roasted aftertaste. Light body. Easy to drink. Oaty softness and some liveliness in the palate. Nice softness, but too aqueous to stand out. Overall, likable enough but simple.

Poured from a can. Dark with a thick head. Very smooth. Finishes nicely. Leaves a sweet, almost flowery taste on the palate.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
One of the few oatmeal stouts where you can really taste oatmeal mixed with mild coffee and chocolate flavors. Very good.

4.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
This is an excellent stout. The flavor starts far more mellow than most stouts Iíve had. This smoothness gives way to a smoky, roasted grain bitterness that you would expect in a good stout. Where some stouts can be heavy-handed, syrupy thick, and a bit much to drink, Barney Flats isnít. Itís got a solid but not syrupy mouthfeel. The flavor has elements of chocolate, coffee, and malt with a properly-balanced hops bitterness. One of the best stouts on the market as far as Iím concerned.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can. Pours a very dark brown-black with barely visible garnet highlights and a high, very tight, fine-grained light brown head. Nose is red wine, dried fruit, black tea, and baking chocolate. Rich and fruity up front on the tongue, then with a dark chocolate/coffee/raisin note kicking in on the mid-palate; a minty herbal note is also present, and the dryness increases all the way through. Finish is long, dry, herbal/piney, and smoky. Extremely good.
