4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 mkgrenwel (433) - Cambridge, USA - AUG 28, 2006
Brilliantly smooth and robust. Caramel malt just glides across your tongue and down your throat, with a touch of bitterness in the back to make you wanting to go back for more. Some hops there to provide balance, but without really coming out and showing their stuff. Just like all the AV beers, this is a fantastic example of the style. Brewed exactly to specifications and done perfectly. The only problem is, it’s such a boring style that it’s hard for this to earn a huge score. Still, very well done.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DavoleBomb (965) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 20, 2012
Poured into a pint glass.
4.0 A: Lightly hazed orange amber color. Two fingers of dense frothy, off-white head. Retention is good and a short ring of lacing is left.
4.0 S: Doughy malt base. Moderate caramel malt component. Cinnamon-like spiciness, almost like a winter warmer. Fairly strong molasses presence with light floral hops.
4.0 T: Mostly follows the nose. Doughy with some breadiness from the yeast. More caramel than in the nose and it tastes great. Again a touch of molasses and some toastiness. Light winter spice and earthy hoppiness.
4.0 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Good creaminess in this and quite smooth.
4.5 D: Solid beer throughout. Definitely worth an occasional purchase.

Average brown ale. Came in a can! Pours a dark amber with a light head. Aroma is very malty. There is enough hops to give it a crisp finish and make it a fairly good drinker.

Pours a rusty amber with a beige head and a sweet, hoppy aroma. Taste is sweet and light with a well-balanced flavor of malts and hops. Quick, dry, and slightly bitter finish, a very drinkable and enjoyable ale.
