Pours amber (of course) with a foamy head. Aroma is not very strong, some fruity notes. Good flavor: caramel, sweet fruits, some breadiness, and a nice touch of hops. Really smooth and light, very enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pint on tap. Nice amber color, translucent. Nice thick stable head, decent lacing. Pretty light aroma, bready with a little hop finish. I like this beer, I think Iíd prefer a bit more complexity, but itís fine for the style, and the balance is good and simple. Doesnít push the envelope, but it tastes pretty good and isnít metallic or too hoppy.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rich aroma with hints of pineapple and a string caramel note. Flavour adds a nice toasted caramel note an a solid balancing bitterness. There is a slight pleasant toasty, nutty note in the end of the flavour. Over all a very good beer

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle, Pours a slightly hazy copper color with s medium fluffy white head that leaves good lacing. Smells Iíd biscuit, dough, sweet malt and caramel. Tastes if all the same things that are in the, smell. Mouthfeel is between medium and light with good carbonation. I think this is one of the better amber ales on the market. I like the hop presence it brings. Not many ambers catch my attention but this is one of them.

Poured from a can. Amber color with a large fluffy head. Nice aroma. Taste - not so great. A little on the sweet side with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Would not buy again.

Had this absolutely scores of times over the years, and this brewer used to be something of a go-to in my early craft days. Still grab one of them off the shelf at the Total Wine every now and again for nostalgic purposes. This amber is certainly reasonably hopped compared to the majority of íem out there, but itís certainly to style in that itís malty, caramelly, and even rich in places. Well done to style, even if I donít really care for the style much anymore.

Can at The Flying Elk, April 2013.
A bit hazy amber with a large, fluffy head. Aroma and taste of caramel, dried fruit, malt and light hops. Medium body and carbonation. Sweet but an ok one.

Great aroma and taste. Coppery for sure. Sweet at first then really smooth after with strong nutty. Iím drinking this in the canned version so maybe the coppery taste is coming from there but Iíll try it bottles and see if thereís a difference. Regardless, Iím loving it.
