chronictonic (365), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 18, 2002 Medium brown ESB. I’ve had this in bottles before and wasn’t too impressed with the bottle version, so was interested in trying it on tap. The aroma is kind of fruity and citrusy. Flavor is medium malt body with sweet, acidic hop flavors throughout. ’Crisp’ flavor - not overly bitter. An excellent American version of an ESB.
lithy (365), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Nov 17, 2008 decaturstevo’s 2008 Zapit Tasing Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to decaturstevo. Borderline orange-golden with a fizzy white head that quikly dissipates. All I get is soap in the aroma, weak malts and light hops. Taste is improved, caramels and a drying maltiness into a light finishing bitterness. Butters (545), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee, USA Nov 15, 2008 Translucent orange amber. Mild malty aroma is nothing special. The flavor steps it up considerably. Nice balance between floral hops and caramel malt. Pleasant finish. blklab2007 (596), Connecticut, USA Oct 27, 2008 bottle poured a lighter amber color with a thin fluffy white head that retained a thin layer well. aroma has sweet malt, light hops, and some earth. mouth feel is thin with lighter carbonation. bitterness picks up a bit in the flavor with sweet base malt and noticeable hops. there is a decent bitter and hops that picks up towards the finish. KimJohansen (4299), Copenhagen V, Denmark Oct 18, 2008 Clear amber with medium off white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel and hoppy notes. Flavor likewise with a nice hoppy end. SamGamgee (628), Isla Vista, California, USA Oct 3, 2008 12oz bottle. Clear amber with a lasting head. Hoppy aroma with light fruity yeast notes and some caramel malt. Pretty hoppy. Actually, this is quite hoppy and bitter, but retains the esb qualities, with some caramel malt, and fruity notes. Medium body and pretty smooth. Very drinkable. Pretty tasty.
