UPDATED: NOV 14, 2005 Full 12 oz. Bottle, 14 Nov. í05. As good an ESB as Iíve found, frankly, though Iíve probably not had that many. Golden body rendered a bit cloudy from floating particulates. In a Bitburger glass, it offers a thick, fluffy off-white head that helps concentrate a lot of nice hop flavor, Not sure what distinguishes this from an APA, per haps that thereís a sharp Northwestern hop profile, but it tends more towrd the English side, too; just tasty bitterness over a citrusy subnote. Malts and alcohol are nice and smooth in contrast to the hops. More western in character than, say, a Goose Honkerís Ale. Just great beer drinking pleasure thoughout the glass.<hr>Original rating 3.6, with sampler-sized taste from bottle, 12 Jan í04. First of several bitters sampled at our homebrew club meeting, so my notes are not copious: Light brown color with thin head. Bitterness is more "straight," like a traditional bitter, with less of a hoppy nose, at least IMHO.

12 oz bottle labelled Belkís ESB. Pours a copper color with moderate head. Aromas of sweet malts, bread and light orangey fruit. Flavors are similar with additional toffee notes and a long grassy bitter finish

Big hop aroma and bite. Love the flavor paired with pastrami sandwich I had. Color a bit lacking but good flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Copper color with beige head. Malty fruity citrus aroma. Start is a biscuity malt flavor and some minerals. Followed by a light fruitiness. Herbal finish, I pick up some juniper berries and citrus.

Backlog. Tried on tap @ Grand ÷l & Mat. Always love an ESB, this is a decent addition to the style, not a favorite.

Pours a hazy copper with a thick tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, light vanilla, bourbon and grassy hops. Taste is carnage, vanilla, grass and citrus and a nice easy bitterness throughout with the sweet malt flavors dominating. Delicious esb.

Hazy copper pour. Aroma is toffee, grapefruit. Flavour has stone cracker malts with bitter grapefruit rind and a slight herbal note. Good.

On tap at Anderson Valley, pours a hazy copper orange with a small white head. Aroma is very subtle, with light notes of vanilla, bourbon, and English hops. Flavour is unusual, bringing out loads of wood, vanilla, English malt, and English hops in back. Donít think Iíve ever had a barrel aged ESB, but this execution is done very well, despite the seemingly odd should of styles to barrel age. Everything is in balance and harmony. Good stuff, just not really my thing.

22 oz. bottle, pours hazy golden with a white head. Great aroma of hops, caramel malt and some fruit. Flavour is somewhat muted - caramel, some hops, wheat and herbs. Very nice.

Bottle date: nunya! Pours an amber with a finger of light cream foam. This falls in a couple minutes to a beer with moderate lace. Smells of malts (english tone) with a bit of a hit of bitter, burnt caramel. This is the nose I generally look for in an ESB, but this is a little too subdued. Flavor is of malts and a weird, over powering flavor I place akin to sushi wrap (seaweed). Really this flavor is overpowering anything else I am tasting, unfortunately. The body is a bit thin with high carb and a semi dry finish. Iím a bit disappointed by this and would not likely order again on my own buck. Serving type: bottle 03-06-2012
