Braudog (3461), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Apr 29, 2008 Bottle. Poured with a red-tinged brown hue, with just a thin head and a sticky top. The aroma is stiff -- almost maple syrupy, thick with a malty sweetness. The drink is solid and full-flavored, like a liquid fig newton, sweet yet dark fruity, almost chewy. You could almost dunk this in milk. (#3441, 4/29/2008)
rayOfBeer (172), El Cerrito, California, USA Jul 2, 2008 Poured from 22oz bottle a dark reddish-brown with a thin tan head and little carbonation. Aromas of sweet candy, raisins, toffee, banana, and yeast. Flavor is over-ripe banana, bubblegum, some spicey clove, plus somewhat of an alcohol vapor that turns a bit astringent at the end. Palate is rather dry given the sweet aroma and has a spicy tingle that dominates throughout. This beer was OK, but I was hoping for more. It seems a little bland for a double. There needs to be more depth to it IMHO. Angeloregon (1464), Portland, Oregon, USA Jun 30, 2008 22oz’er from BTB in Vancouver, WA--Poured a dark rich brown-chestnut body with a healthy medium-sized off-white head. Yeasty, banana-clove, brown sugar, chocolate, dark fruit, slightly metallic nose. Sweet plums and raisins lingers on the tongue. Spicy and carmelly. Quite unique yet somewhat familiar. Very nice with chocolate. ansermadide (135), Kyle, Texas, USA Jun 7, 2008 Updated: Jun 9, 2008(June 2008 Beer Club Meeting - Sacrifice) Cloudy/thick deep-amber/brown color. Nose is light caramel. taste is pungent, but enjoyable. Tastes RED. Hint of fruit, spice... great on the palate. padrefan98 (547), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Jun 2, 2008 Thanks to Mike for bringing this one to the house. Aromas of sweet fruit, and flavors of yeast, fruit, and spice. Pretty decent. KnN (187), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA May 30, 2008 pours a dark red/brown with a small short-lived tan head. Aroma is massive red fruit. Plum especially. Lots of sweet malt aroma with a little astringency which seems out of place.
Flavor is more of the same. Big sweet malt, plum, prune, a bit of grape, but then that little weird kick at the end. Not alcohol, just something a bit off. Not entirely pleasant. Oxidation? Decent, not great.
