22 oz bottle 7/1/07: Hazy chestnut brown w/ a thin, light beige head. Plasticky phenolic, light plum fruity ester,a nd hints of peppery yeast spice, as well as some raisiny dark fruit. Also aroma of coca cola and hints of clove and allspice. Plastic yeast phenoilc seems to want to stick around. Some rose floral notes and molasses/licorice also chime in with the toasted malt. Well balanced between malt and hops, and dry finish from fermentation. Lightly roasted grain flavor & bready malt w/ hints of caramel & plums. Some dark sugary flavors w/ some plastic notes again. Nice ester profile, not too hip on the phenolics though! Dry m/f, lighter body, medium CO2, and well hidden alcohol. I like the esters... Very complex and pleasant! I do not like the plastic phenolic that I get out of it, which leaves me torn on this beer. Maybe it was just me on this particular day, but the plastic aromas/flavors just seem too noticeable for me to really, really like this beer. I guess you could consider this beer sort of like Darth Vader.... Dark and evil on the outside and surface, but you can see the potential for good in it!

Raisiny vinous nose, some powdered chocolate notes. Deep, deep onyx red color, medium frothy head with nice lacing. Brown sugar rum raisin sweetness, slight bitter notes--very smooth. Creamy body, subtle smooth carbonation, horehound candy finish. A very nice beer, delicate and complex, alcohol is completely masked.

Pours a copper color with an off-white head. Aroma is pretty sweet with caramel malts, yeast, and some dark fruits. Flavor is of caramel malts, yeast, candied sugar, dark fruits, and some banana. Slight warming on the finish.

Bottle: Poured a dark dirty red with not much head. The aroma was sweet dried fruit. The flavor had hints of yeast, banana, spice and sweet fruits. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this beer.

Poured from 22oz bottle a dark reddish-brown with a thin tan head and little carbonation. Aromas of sweet candy, raisins, toffee, banana, and yeast. Flavor is over-ripe banana, bubblegum, some spicey clove, plus somewhat of an alcohol vapor that turns a bit astringent at the end. Palate is rather dry given the sweet aroma and has a spicy tingle that dominates throughout. This beer was OK, but I was hoping for more. It seems a little bland for a double. There needs to be more depth to it IMHO.

22oz’er from BTB in Vancouver, WA--Poured a dark rich brown-chestnut body with a healthy medium-sized off-white head. Yeasty, banana-clove, brown sugar, chocolate, dark fruit, slightly metallic nose. Sweet plums and raisins lingers on the tongue. Spicy and carmelly. Quite unique yet somewhat familiar. Very nice with chocolate.
