Commercial Description:
The brewers of Anderson Valley had to conjure the High Priestess of Fermentation to help them formulate and create this rare hand-crafted elixer. It is luxuriant, smooth, more that a little wild, and at 10% alcohol, it's bound to raise your spirits. Open the Bottle and greet the High Priestess. You are worthy.

Pours orange / copper with a short lasting fizzy tan head. The aroma is pretty hot with spice and banana - it comes across fairly medicinal. Medium body with a small amount of sharp carbonation. The taste is thankfully much better than the aroma. The taste has some fruit that is partially citrus / partially nectar fruits. There is some sweet and smooth malt and it lightly earthy. The finish is a bit sugary, light plastic, bit of sharp spice and some abv warm kick. A decent beer that I would get again.

Bottle. Oil slick look in the glass with a small soapy head and no visible carbonation. The head quickly disappeared, leaving a greasy looking flat liquid. Despite the miserable presentation, this is a solid beer. Nice caramel flavors mix in a bit of dough, some lemons, and a lovely boozy finish. Pretty easy drinking, though a bit alcohol-flavored.

2006 bottle (gold wax) sampled Sept ’08.

Pours caramel yellow, small head. Peaches, honey, alcohol on the nose, a flavor driven by mellow sweet honey, not a lot of hop character at this age, hints of stone-fruit, surprisingly good considering my expectations for the beer and, for that matter, the individual components of the beer. Nearly flat mouthfeel, yet it’s nice to drink, the ABV present more in flavor and particularly aroma than in the heat on the tongue or thickness; there is seems more in the 8% range.

Not an absolute standout, but better than many Anderson Valley products and pretty enjoyable at two years of age.

Deep amber color pour with a big foamy head that lasted throughout. Aroma of apricots and apples, yeast, spice and definite alcohol. Flavor is similar. Lots of sweet fruit up front with the spice coming next and then a big alcohol bite on the finish. Very tasty, but the alcohol starts to overpower after a couple glasses.

Pours amber with a very thin head that disappears quickly. Aroma of apple with a touch of honey. Taste at first is very fruity, apples and pears, mixed with bread. Turns sour in the aftertaste. Booze is apparant. Very average offering, would try it again though.
