Jan 4, 2007 (22oz bottle) Large rocky tan head atop black-brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, roast, coffee, chocolate, some earthy, sourness. Taste is badly infected sour cherry, some roast, light chocolate. Effervescent light-medium body. Will try to give this another shot, but disappointing to say the least.

Dec 28, 2006 22 oz bottle, as a bonus in a trade, but I don’t remember with who though. Pours a clear brown colored body under a very fizzy light brown head that completely vanished in seconds. Nose is very chocolaty with a lighter roast component. Some light alcohol, licorice, and a little hoppiness. Flavor is more roasty with alot of licorice and a chocolate malt, modestly dry and bitter finish. Some light chalkiness and vanilla as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly watery texture. Carbonation is a little too fizzy and prickly for me. Overall, this was a fairly disappointing beer from Anderson Valley. Too thin and I couldn’t get past the offensive carbonation.

Nov 27, 2006 Nice roasted malt aromas that follow through to taste. Slight coffee and bitter sweet chocolate character. Good dark brown color slightly translucent.

Nov 16, 2006 22oz bottle. Dark brown center with a tannish head; minimal lacing. Aroma shows roasted malts and marshmallow. Medium, malt-dominated mouthfeel: slightly watery, chocolate, roasted malts; a hint of floral hops. Slightly dry finish, showing milk chocolate. Nondescript.

Oct 15, 2006 A good serviceable and very drinkable porter. I finished a bomber myself. Its balanced smooth and understated roasty and coffee and chocolate malt.
