Trying again after many years. The aroma came across as a little moldy to me. The mouthfeel was relatively light with light roasted character. Otherwise my original rating holds. Original rating follows. Light brown head with an almost black body. A hint of ruby shows when held to bright light. The aroma reminds me of a nice campfire. Roasted coffee and some whole grain bread also come into play. The mouthfeel is a little thick. The taste of this porter is incredibly smooth. Notes of chocolate, and roasted coffee. There is also a little hint of prunes, but it is very faint. A nicely done porter.

Deep ruby/dark brown pour with colossal tan head. Aroma of big chocoff, dark malt, figs, molasses. Tastes dark malty, with big chocoff, almonds. Complex, dense, chocolatey palate. Gets very coffeeish as it warms, and the balance and complexity could use some work. Still, a well above average porter.

Pours black with foamy (overcarbonated) tan/mocha head. Aroma of fruity vinous esters, piney hops and some roasted malt. Taste is lightly sweet and winey with mild notes of chocolate, grape, mango and plums. Not bad, but somewhat strange for a porter.

A good porter here. One that finnally wasn’t too sweet lately. Brown body with tan head, good lacing. Good aromas of chocolate and coffee. Flavor was of rich chocolate and was smooth on the palate.

Poured black with the aroma of roasty malts and chocolate. Thick long lasting head that made it to the end of this beer. Flavor was all roast ,chocolate and coffee. Bigger body than most porters I’ve had. Very good.
