3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 502Flavors (1001) - ARLINGTON, Virginia, USA - SEP 13, 2010
Bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a tall creamy attractive and lacing khaki head. Deliciously inviting aroma thats very solid and on style. Notes of vanilla, licorice, chocolate, roasted malt, and coffee. The flavor is very nice as well. It is similar to the aroma with a bit of a dark fruit quality to it. Medium dry roasty finish. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Overall: this beer is just spot on. So balanced, so perfectly to style. Its simple and yet still complex. Just an outstanding example of a porter. This will be joining SN Porter as my go to, simple perfect porter.

Deep brown to black color, semi-translucent. Aroma of brown sugar and sun-dried tomatoes. Flavor is sun-dried tomato and pizza, but very subdued and drinkable. Interesting brown to say the least. Bottle from Barrios at the PreLabor Day Beer Tasting.

Pours is brown with light tan head. Aroma of malt, vanilla, chocolate, hint of licorice, Similar taste, but more bready. A bit thin compared to the aroma. Guess I’ve had too many imperials tonight to give this its due credit.

Pours dark brown with some nice lacing. Very mild on the palate. Could totally drink this with some meat pizza. Lighter in body than I would have expected from the nose. Not such a bad thing though. It was pretty easy drinking. Tobacco, chocolate, and coffee. Mocha dessert.

Pours dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma of tobacco and sun dried tomatoes. Lighter side of medium bodied with a slight watery texture. Flavor is similar to the aroma. I taste sun dried tomatoes and tobacco. Weird. I well..fuck it. Somewhat different for a porter.

Dark brown body with lasting tan head. Chocolate and then some coffee notes in the aroma. Roasted notes also come through in the taste, medium body, good carbonation and nice lacing. Quite a nice porter.

Dark woody pour, nice head, lots of lace. Creamy coffee aroma. Smokey, with a bitter coffee and a hint of smoke. Some nice dark chocolate flavors, nice carb. A bit of CO2 tartness at the end. Tasty brew, but not spectacular.
