Pours dark brown with a crimson hue and a good sized soapy thick head. The aroma has dark caramel malt, rich cream, milk chocolate, molasses and little bit of hops. Medium smooth body with fairly soft carbonation. The flavor starts with dark toasted malt that is a bit roasty as well. There are also the traits from the aroma, but it seems to be hoppier with spicy / piny hops. The finish has a lingering hoppiness. Very solid porter.

Pint on tap at The Davis Graduate. It’s no longer on tap. Disappointing faint, metallic aroma with barely any roastiness or any other porter notes. Pretty faint. Mildly transparent mahogany body with a smallish, quickly dissipating light tan head. Has a bit of a minerally, watery start. Becomes a little rich and bitter with unsweetened bitter chocolate flavors in the middle. Finishes thin and boring. Thoroughly disappointing.

Bottle (22oz). Shared by blankboy with me, garthicus, gregclow, jerc and tupalev. Deep ruby-black with a solid creamy lasting beige head. Dry leafy aroma, oily and grassy, and is that sorghum I smell? Tastes grassy too, with oats and weak coffee - not very roasty, not very anything really. Light, in fact weak, bodied, slightly acidic, with a vaguely burnt aftertaste, after a nothing finish. Lame.

Thanks to Blankboy. Appearance: Dark black, huge white head. Aroma: Grassy, grainy, malt and oily chocolate. Flavour: Oily, malt, kind of ’sooty’ and a pretty weak body, very watery.

22oz bomber from Jonathan Ron. Pours a deep dark brown with a small foamy light beige head. Aroma of vegtables, mustiness, chocolate and caramel. Flavor of sour milk and chocolate that is bitter and sour. This seems like a BMC attempt at a Porter and just weak all around.

2009-03-20.Very dark brown-black body with a nice foamy mocha head. (4+) Sweetish malt aroma, dry dusty roasty highlights. (7 +) Flavour is nice, mild dry malt over a sweeter dark malt middle. Very light bitterness. Well balanced. (7+) Light lingering mocha and roast is pleasant. Average plus bodied palate. Simple but solid, very drinkable. Bottle shared by Blankboy

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, GregClow, Jerc, and Garthicus, at Blankboy’s, courtesy of either Harry or Paul (I forgot to write down who brought what - thanks for sharing guys!). Last beer of the night, solid tasting guys. Mild malty aroma. Dark brown, decent sized off white head. Malty, bitter chocolate, some roast in taste. Not bad.

Dark brown with deep ruby highlights and capped by a large, ricky, beige head. Cocoa aroma with some very faint molasses, dark fruits, and roasted malts. Body is smooth, but a tad watery. The chocolate and roasted malts shine through in the flavor much more than the aroma would lead you to believe. Is there some berries in the finish? If so, they’re too faint to really pull out. Ends with bittersweet roasted malts. Not bad, but a little one sided.
