Black. Standard roasted malt aroma with a medium palate. A very drinkable, and ordinary porter. Well roasted malt.

Pitch black in colour with a dense thick brown head. Aroma of cherries, dark chocolate and some roasted malt. Medium-bodied; Watery mouthful-but still full of flavour. Dark chocolate, cherries and coffee nuances are felt throughout the taste. Aftertaste bland but showing some of the malty and 'dark' tastes. Overall, actually fairly respectable for the style, a bit watery, but shows tremendous flavour regardless. A nice find and a good beer to try! I shared this 65 cL bottle purchased at Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington with JonR888710. I sampled this one on 29-November-2003.

22 oz bottle, as a bonus in a trade, but I don’t remember with who though. Pours a clear brown colored body under a very fizzy light brown head that completely vanished in seconds. Nose is very chocolaty with a lighter roast component. Some light alcohol, licorice, and a little hoppiness. Flavor is more roasty with alot of licorice and a chocolate malt, modestly dry and bitter finish. Some light chalkiness and vanilla as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly watery texture. Carbonation is a little too fizzy and prickly for me. Overall, this was a fairly disappointing beer from Anderson Valley. Too thin and I couldn’t get past the offensive carbonation.

Bottle: The aroma pours out of the bottle as soon as you remove the cap. Malty, fruity, anc cookie aroma. First time I’ve ever understood what someone said when they mentioned cookie aromas. Pours dark brown, virtually black, with a nice tan head with fair retention. Flavor is a malty coffee with something else I can’t pinpoint. Chocolate flavor. Light cookie flavor to go with the smell and maybe some light wine. A little watery. A different kind of porter, but good.

Sample at the tasting room on 8/9/10. Pours darkest brown with a thick tan head. Chocolate aroma with hints of roast and sweet licorice. Sweet chocolate flavor with some bitter roasted malt and licorice on the back end.

Pours mahogany-tinged black into an English pint. Tan micro head with excellent retention slowly recedes to coat surface. Dusty fig and cocoa aromas. Smooth caramel upfront, turning a little thin with roasted chocolate in the lasting finish.

Bomberfrom Bottle Barn! Nose of roastinesswith a coffee note; clear dark brown with a big tan, glass-lacing head; flavor has some coffee, chocolate, and a little pepperiness.

22 oz bottle. Poured a clear dark brown-ruby brown color. The head was thin and light tan. Aroma was of molasses, buttery caramel, steeping barley, and a hint of wet dog. Dry on the tongue up front with some sweetness at the end. The mouth feel was disappointingly thin. I tasted cocoa, caramel, and a sprinkle of roasted malt. There was more carbonation that I had expected. I didn’t get much in the way of hop flavor or bitterness. Not bad.
