troopie (848), USA Dec 28, 2006 Bottle. Black with tan lasting and much lace. Aroma of cloves, chocolate and malt. Flavour of dark chocolate, malt and hops. Finish mildly hoppy with coffee. A very pleasing porter Ida7999 (105), Milford, Massachusetts, USA Apr 7, 2004 deep dark brown, thick rich off-white head, aroma of roasted malt and hops, coffee, a light fruitiness, with some mocha overtones; flavor is bitter and roasted, burnt, nice hop bite, coffee, light hints of chocolate, smooth, not overly rich in texture Darkover (1308), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 29, 2004 Dark brown color with a big head and thick lace. NightOwl (45), Midland, Michigan, USA Jul 7, 2005 Practically opaque dark beer with a twinge of red, tiny carbonation bubbles but not "fizzy". Strong coffee and chocolate flavour, subtle aftertaste of chocolate and caramel. Nice porter. UnionMade (621), Connecticut, USA Jul 4, 2003 Very robust. Deep opaque black with a thin sandy colored head. Aroma is replete with roasty goodness. Flavor is strong, with a thick mouthfeel. Very roasty, with a hint of black cherry and chocolate. Very good. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 8, 2005 Nice silky texture with chocolate and fruit flavors. Very well rounded and drinkable. Schroppfy (1810), Ohio, USA Dec 4, 2003 I have to give this the best rating of all the Anderson Valley that I've had - the brewery is pretty consistent and good, but not outstanding, and this beer is even more so (?!). Perched right on the border between a really roasty bitter coffeeish porter and one with a great deal of chocolate malt, this has a great mingling of flavor. It defines a session porter. Dark dark, with ruby tints, the head is a roiling ecru living thing, and the body is supple, not too thin as some porter s can be - a delight! Taverner (825), San Ramon, California, USA Dec 28, 2008 Bottle from Monument. Pours a cola brown with tannish head. Flavor is slightly sweet, roasty and malty as a good porter should be. Ends on an almost smoky note.
