DA (2484), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Feb 19, 2008 On tap at the PDX Green dragon. Pours amber/copper with a soft cream head. Lots of citrus hops, tangerine and light pine. The malts were big, caramel and fig flavors. Carbonation was mellow and left the hops bitter but not as floral as they might be with a bit more carbonation. Angeloregon (2008), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 21, 2008 On tap in 8oz. glass at Green Dragon in PDX--Poured a deep chestnut-amber body with a swirly wispy off-white head. Sweet malty and bitter hops nose. Sticky and sweet. Came off more like a barleywine. Thick, mildly cloying and syrupy. Hot in finish, but overall, quite balanced considering ABV. oberabcbbsok (685), Hoboken, Belgium Nov 17, 2007 Draft. Drunk at the Yard House in San Diego. A very nice tasting beer. Good aftertaste. irishsnake (353), Oakland, California, USA Feb 28, 2007 (on-tap @ Cato’s) pint is a pleasant gold/amber with an off-white head that retains and laces well. very nice nose full of clean American hops - a good combination of resinous pine and clean citric pith. that’s the good part - beer is sweet up front, without anything close to an adequate balancing bitterness. citric hop flavor is ok, but binds with the sugar to taste kind of like a lemon lifesaver. 90 IBUs my ass. poor example of a double IPA. bb (2168), Martinez, California, USA Feb 24, 2007 Draft. Rich amber beer with a nice off-white head. Grapefruit and citrus aroma. Citrus flavor with some summer fruitiness. Caramel malt backing. LIngering grapefruit and caramel. A tad sweet and a little lacking in the bitterness.
