3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
This pours a medium brown color with a creamy, beige head. The aroma is full pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove spice. The texture is about average that will quench your thirst. Once you get to the taste though there isnít a whole lot of to define this as a pumpkin beer. It does finish with a nice cinnamon spice after taste. Above average, but there are better pumpkin beers on the market.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I poured a 12oz can into a mug. There was no apparent freshness date, though Iím quite certain itís from the 2013 seasonal release. This was given to me by friends (thanks, Alex and Marissa!).
Appearance: Dark brown/ruby red/mahogany. Translucent. Forms a small, off-white, soapy head which mostly dissipates and leaves some lacing on the glass.
Smell: Heavy cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla extract aromas, plus general potpourri essence.
Taste: Iíve always said pumpkin beers are one of two things in liquid form: pumpkin pie or pumpkin potpourri. Anderson Valley Fall Horniní Pumpkin Ale seems to have both characteristics going for it as itís noticeably spicy like a potpourri-type brew, but remarkably sweet like a pumpkin pie brew (but without the actual pumpkin pie flavor).
Cinnamon and nutmeg are the most predominant flavors here. It reminds me a lot of Cinnamon Life cereal, especially up front. A tingly spicy sensation can be felt through the middle. Thereís some rustic, earthy flavors of nutmeg, allspice, and perhaps Grains of Paradise (the breweryís website describes it as "seasonal spices"). It finishes lighter with a pumpkin puree and vanilla extract taste with just a touch of bitterness. Unique to be sure, though its sweetness seems rather artificial and borders on drinking like a pumpkin soda.
Drinkability: While I would categorize the palette as lively, the actual delivery is quite comfortable. Medium-bodied with a calm mouthfeel and smooth texture. The beer leaves a slightly sweet aftertaste, but it fades quickly. At 6% ABV, Anderson Valley Fall Horniní Pumpkin Ale doesnít seem to take full advantage of its weight as it drinks and feels like something much lighter.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
I will not drink anymore Anderson Valley. This is the second of their beers that will visit the drain fairy. The aroma smells like a craft store pumpkin candle display. The flavor has ZERO pumpkin or spice it does have a very odd bitterness that makes your throat clench up. This tastes like it fell out of the Great Pumpkinís ass!

Light pumpkin and spice. Definitely a lighter style pumpkin beer than most of the ones Iíve tasted lately.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle via Beer World Kingston, NY. Deep ruby in the mug. Glowing thin oily tan head. Solid dense lacing/foam clings to sides of mug. Strong nose of pumpkin spice. This is the put the basement back together beer today. One of many from the looks of it. Body follows nose thru to mirror finish.
