This sour ale is produced by aging our Horn Of The Beer Barleywine in Wild Turkey bourbon barrels for extended periods of time (up to 2 years.) The aroma is reminiscent of earthy red wines with a background of caramel and honey and just a hint of wood and sourness. The flavor is intensely sour with a touch of acetic acid and notes of brown malt, toast, and ripe red fruit. The bourbon character adds a savory, woody component that yields subtle notes of coconut and vanilla.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours brown with a beige head. Light sour aroma - maybe medium. Med body or better. Flavor is shockingly, nay headbangingly, sour. Moves to fruit, oak and than rather pure bourbon notes. Sour moderates evenly with time, finishing a bit like a must red wine barrel. A must for sour lovers.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours dark brown with a rich beige head and a raisin aroma. There is a sour dark molasses flavor with a dry finish Delicious.

Draft at Closed For Business. I guessing it's probably a clear deep brown, it's dark as fuck in here so I have no clue. Sour acidic aroma, light date/plum notes with caramel and touches of lactic acid. Sour acid throughout with a sweet maltiness right it the back with a bitter dryness in the end. It's not terrible, but harsh around the edges.

Pretty awesome beer. On tap at ABV Public House. Pours a nice deep red color with a small white head. A sour fruity nose. The flavor is very vinous, woody, sour, more bursting fruit, berries, sweet malts. Very good. Excellent brew really.

On tap during SF beer week. Pour is hazy brown with basically no head. Aroma is of dark fruits, vanilla, caramel, and sour funk. Flavor is tart and chewy - cherries, wood tannins, chocolate, earth, and hops. Very well balanced for a sour ale.

Comes out of the tap a dark mahogany, thin buff head. Bourbon-soaked wood dominates the aroma but lets through cherry and caramel notes. Flavor is quite sour - will make you pucker! - and has definite fruit notes plus caramel and bourbon. Texture is firm and rather fizzy. Another winner from the Secret Stash Bash.

On tap at BierCraft. Clear brown/ruby with a generous frothy off-white cap. Good retention and lacing. Aroma of wet rocks, oak, cherry, prunes. Taste is mildly sweet, with a spike of sourness, and trailing light bitterness. Sticky mouthfeel.

Draft - Sweet vinous and oak notes with a bit of malt vinegar. Deep brown with a rich light brown head. Sour cherry, brown sugar, oak and a well balanced sweet and sour finish. Very nice.

On tap at mad mex. Nice dark pour, with a thick head. Dull sweet beery aroma. Off the bat I can tell it tastes much better than yer typical american barley wine, after all it was listed as a barley wine at the bar. Has some tartness in there fer sure. but that strong alky in yer face thing is still going on. ITs just less apparent with the tart thing happening. Yes, the wild aspect saves this beer. Finish is cloying tart alky laced fruit. Yes, in the end one of the better American barley wines if it actually is one.
