Robust. Brewed with a “heelch” (that means “a lot” in Boontling) of Columbus, Chinook, and Cascade hops, our double IPA has a palate pleasing bitterness that is artfully balanced with a full-bodied malt foundation. With a deep color of polished brass and a nose that sings of pink grapefruit and redwood needles, the rich biscuit-like malt flavors are intertwined with hints of vanilla, mangoes, and peppercorns leading to a deep, warming finish.

355ml bottle. Pours deep, dark golden, off white head. Rich smell of sweet malts with light fruity and floral notes, some hops. Taste is sweet malts and caramel with some citrus and an excellent final hopping. Stays away from the tropical juice like IPAs. Very good.

Very strong malt aroma and some faint hops. Taste starts very sweet but is quickly overwhelmed by an intense hop bitterness. A bit too intense on all aspects for my taste. Hops were present only in the bitterness and too little in the aroma and taste.

Nice in the hops with a bit of ripe fruits background. What kills this one is that strong and tasteable alcohol background which lets the beer end quite skunky. Average brew.

Bitter beer. Tasty. Orange peels and grapefruit. Draft at green lady. Hoppy earthy gummy taste.

Pours out of the bottle in a clear light amber colour with low head and crisp body. Aroma of hops, caramel, malt and mild spices. Taste of fresh hops, barley, cake, spruce, spices and bread. Dry-bitter finish. Quite nice but nothing special.

L’imperial ipa che vorresti trovare sempre: ben bilanciata tra lo sfondo maltato e caramellato e l’intenso aroma dei luppoli, con note fruttate leggermente dolci, presenza alcolica ben celata. Buonissima!

Glass on tap in against the grain. Pours cloudy amber. Nice froth head. Looks good. Nose is grass, pine, spruce, slight cat piss. Grapefruit flavour, hop with a short bitterness and then the robust sweet malts fight through. Caramel sweet releases as it warms to leave a treacle aftertaste. Full body. Fizzy on initial sip but flattens on palette. Quite complex, enjoyable.

355ml bottle from The Wine Emporium. Big tongue numbing beer that shocks the palate with hops. Enjoyable though.

Bottle. Pine and pink grapefruit over a biscuity malt base. Yes, this one is both full of malt and of hops. Some almond partly mingling with a booziness - this spoils the whole picture a bit. The taste is sweetish, the finish warming with a surprisingly restrained bitterness. The mouthfeel is thisk and oily, yes, even fatty I would say. And this oiliness is a bit too much, as it seems to dampen the flavour. The aroma shows that both hops and malts have big potential in here but it never shows in the flavour due to the thick oiliness. Altogether it means that the beer disappoints.
