Robust. Brewed with a “heelch” (that means “a lot” in Boontling) of Columbus, Chinook, and Cascade hops, our double IPA has a palate pleasing bitterness that is artfully balanced with a full-bodied malt foundation. With a deep color of polished brass and a nose that sings of pink grapefruit and redwood needles, the rich biscuit-like malt flavors are intertwined with hints of vanilla, mangoes, and peppercorns leading to a deep, warming finish.

9/03/2013: Anderson Valley Heelch O’ Hops... Aroma: Sugary, ripe citrus, biscuit, Hawaiian bread crust, hint of pine. Appearance: Hazy, deep burnished gold color; nice ,fluffy ivory-colored head that lasts. Flavor: Ripen citrus hop flavor up front, bitteresweet middle as the toffee maltiness comes through along with some biscuit, aggressive resin bitterness in the finish; strong, but not overbearing alcohol that’s mostly hidden. Palate: Medium-full body, smooth; feels dense. Overall: Seems to be best when served colder than usual. 12 fl. oz. bottle (8.7% Alc. by Vol.) from Jungle Jim’s International Market in Fairfield, Ohio. Rating #246 for this beer.

Sweet yet hoppy. Decent balance of malt and earthy hops. Not my favorite imperial IPA, but definitely quaffable. Draft @ Yardhouse Waikiki ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy gold with a thick off white head. Aroma of candied orange peel and pine. Big malty flavors enhanced with resinous hop bitterness. Very nice, balanced and fresh.

Typical American double IPA with lots of hops and a resulting strong bitterness. Nice beer, but not very special.

(Bottle, 0.355 l, at St. Urho’s Pub, 20130907) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had pine, grass, caramell and malts. Palate was mediium bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were pine, grass, sweetness, caramell, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, sweet and bitter. More like a hoppy barley wine than a double IPA. Not bad.
