Robust. Brewed with a “heelch” (that means “a lot” in Boontling) of Columbus, Chinook, and Cascade hops, our double IPA has a palate pleasing bitterness that is artfully balanced with a full-bodied malt foundation. With a deep color of polished brass and a nose that sings of pink grapefruit and redwood needles, the rich biscuit-like malt flavors are intertwined with hints of vanilla, mangoes, and peppercorns leading to a deep, warming finish.

2013-12-28, draught at Pumphouse, Richmond, BC, 8-4-8-5-17=42
Hazy light amber color with creamy head. The aroma is fruity, near fruit candies. The body is lean; good malt flavor with rather low sweetness; all this makes it very drinkable; powerful hopping, with a lot of soft and fruity resins; long final.
Excellent and dangerous.

2013-10-14, bottle from Marhun, Darmstadt, bb 2/9/14, 8-4-8-4-17=41
Hazy amber color with compact head. Very nice aroma, fruity hops, sweet oranges and mango. Strong body, round mouthfeel; sweet caramel and toffee flavor, with an explosion of fruity hops, oranges and stone fruits, then some resins and a rather earthy touch; strong bitterness.
Expected to be old, surprisingly fresh and drinkable.

Bottle. Hazy Golden Amber with a foamy Cream coloured head. Powerful citrus aroma. Grapefruit and Orange. The flavour has intense, oily hops. Pine and citrus. A touch of tropical character leading to a bitter but not too bitter finish. Pretty easy going for a IIPA. Delicious and dangerously consumeable.

Ambrée cuivrée avec un beau col crémeux. Assez pétillante. Odeur de bonbon pin des vosges, vanille. Forte amertume longue en bouche. Du corps, sucrée, mais l’amertume casse un peu les aromes, dommage ...

On Tap, Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Golden looks with a whiteish head. Grapefruit hop snout. Robust hop bitterness and tropical fruits in the flavour. with some sweet malt in the shadows. Very drinkable indeed. Yeah this is right up my avenue.

355 ml bottle bought at YATA in Grand Century Place, Mong Kok.

Looks: translucent dark honey orangeHalf finger head and white foam which lasts for 1minute. Excellent sticky lacing with near zero carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and refreshing grapefruit and mango which can be smelt a feet away, plus nice honey, orange, floral, pine cone, sweet malt, and very light grass.

Taste: Nice and refreshing grapefruit (fresh and juice), very strong resin and pine, plus orange peel, mango, honey, molasses, ale malt, dry biscuits, spices, strong liquorices, warm alcohol, strong lime and herbal hops.

Body: Mid to full, slick and oozy palate.

Mouth Feel: almost all characters come out big and strong, with pretty fresh juicy grapefruit being nicely countered by strong liquorices. First few sips also couple with waves of mango. Some brew and lots more! Very ale malty and dry biscuity, not to mention strong dose of orange peels, pine, resins and spices. All pack a powerful punch to the senses. Lovely!

Alcohol: Booze is strong, pretty expressive but well hidden, comfy and warm, no knock on throughout the session.

Hoppiness: Already said enough about the 3Cs, I am most impressed with the resiny, spicey and superb liquorices. Strong but seductive.

After Taste: Dry, sweet, warm, spicy and very tempting to mouth.

Comments: A very impressive DIPA. Not as mind-blowingly fresh as De Molen’s Amarillo, yet this one utilizes the 3Cs so well, strong maltyness, and memorable bitterness means this is top, albeit logically not so mindblowingly. Highly recommended of course!
