COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Robust. Brewed with a “heelch” (that means “a lot” in Boontling) of Columbus, Chinook, and Cascade hops, our double IPA has a palate pleasing bitterness that is artfully balanced with a full-bodied malt foundation. With a deep color of polished brass and a nose that sings of pink grapefruit and redwood needles, the rich biscuit-like malt flavors are intertwined with hints of vanilla, mangoes, and peppercorns leading to a deep, warming finish.

On tap and snifter served at Ellyn’s in Glen Ellyn, IL. showing an agitated, orangy amber hue at first, but cleared as it settled. The head was frothy white and gradually reduced to a ring & bubbly film. Lacing was clingy and sheet-like. The aroma started sweet, with a slight sense of alcohol. The main components were smooth malt, grapefruit, orange peel, and resiny pine. The flavor was similar, with definite alcohol presence, strong & lingering, rind-like hop bitterness, and sweet maltiness. Medium+ bodied. A big DIPA that never came off harsh, but got smoother as it warmed.

Bottled. An average offering from the brewery at best. Boletus and resinous hops throughout. Mediocre.

Retrogosto amargo e duradouro. Excelente breja! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Slightly hazy copper coloured body with an orange glow and a thick, three centimetre tall tan head - nice. Aroma of resin, pineapple, pine and a thick sweetness, like honey or corn syrup. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong resinous flavour with some pine and deep grapefruity malt noticeable coupled with the rich sweetness that lingers. Aftertaste shows mostly malt and sweetness, with a hint of very resinous hoppiness and a prolonged bitterness. Overall, a decent Imperial IPA with perhaps too much bitterness or depth and not enough hoppiness and balance between the hops and malt. Nice to try, but not my favourite. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 02-April-2013 for US$2.49 sampled at home in Washington on 20-May-2013.

FROTHINGSLOSH (3989) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark golden color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy pine and grapefruit. The flavor was sweet and tangy pepper, bread, grapefruit, pine and resin. Medium length dryish pepper, grapefruit and pine finish. Moderately full bodied. Solid.
