COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Robust. Brewed with a “heelch” (that means “a lot” in Boontling) of Columbus, Chinook, and Cascade hops, our double IPA has a palate pleasing bitterness that is artfully balanced with a full-bodied malt foundation. With a deep color of polished brass and a nose that sings of pink grapefruit and redwood needles, the rich biscuit-like malt flavors are intertwined with hints of vanilla, mangoes, and peppercorns leading to a deep, warming finish.

MALTS:
Pale Two-Row, Victory

HOPS:

Rating #1039 - March 27, 2014 - Anderson Valley Tap Takeover @RevolutionYEG 8.7% . Clear golden pour with a bubbly white foam, spotty lacing. Nose is tangerine, mango essentially the tropics in a blender. Mouthfeel crisp, mild alcohol warmth, low-medium carbonation. Taste is sweet orangey/meyer lemony notes with the spicy tang and hoppy bite. Boozy, hoppy, and unreal flavour and balance. Superb.

bottle from pivnizub - thanks! Full-bodied, intensively malty with the alcohol discreetly disguised. Lots of aromatic hops that add citrus flavours and some pine.

Light gushing to very good, dense & fine yellow head over hazy ochre-orange beer; shards of lace. Very cakey & fruity hops, caramel, maltsyrup, but also citrus, ureum, passion fruit, melon, overripe banana, etc. Bitter, on a sweeter, cakey or biscuity background. Bitter (hop)oils, resin, pine; vegetable bitterness and fruit as citrus (tangerine, grapefruit) or preserved fruit on syrup. Long-lasting flavours; Very oily-slick, rather well-bodied; bit fiery feel, highly carbonated. Quite a good one.

Butelka. W aromacie żywica, karmel, owoce tropikalne, mango, ananas marakuja. Kolor ciemno złoty klarowny, wysycenie średnie do niskiego.

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark amber color, solid white head cover, sheets of lace. Nice looking brew. Aroma of malt and hops. Solid malt to begin, but it is countered immediately by just as solid hops. Neither side is willing to relinquish its presence, so both sweep through a carbonated swallow to a balanced, great tasting, long-lasting finish. A big, but not overwhelming, brew, a pleasure to drink.

Pours clear medium to deep gold with two fingers of rocky white head, excellent retention and lacing. (4/5) Nose is pine resin, pithy citrus, caramel malt, tropical fruit. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, strong bitter, some peppery spice. (7/10) Medium to full body, soft carbonation, strong bitter finish. (4/5) Well, that’s a Heelch of a lotta hops, all right. Not bad at all, if a little malty despite the starts-with-C-hop heavy handedness. Somewhat lacking in subtlety, shall we say? A fairly standard DIPA without a whole lot to distinguish it. Not as good as their Hop Ottin’, but still pretty drinkable. (15/20)

12 oz bottle pours a nice bright amber with a huge white head and great lacing. That’s about all I have left for compliments. Not sure how old this is. Once I could get past the light-struck skunkiness I get to the wonderful cardboard of oxidation. Skunked cardboard isn’t exactly my style. I’d try it again fresh, but this was borderline drain.

Bottle from shelf, date code told me it was 2 months old or so, decided to give it a shot. Pours a light gold, slightly hazed. Aromas of sour metal and some caramel candy. Taste is bitter and sweet. Flavors of rotten dumpster juice with pine sap and crushed tylenol. Sticky and nasty. Like your filthy whore of a mom. This is terrible.

Good taste. Biterness present. Equilibrated. A little bit too strong. Long hop behind taste.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine Sterling. Hazy amber orange pour with a decent white head. The nose has pretty good tropical fruit and herbal hop notes. There is a bit of malty sweetness to balance out the hops. Overall not bad.
