Hop-Heads, your dreams have come true! Hop Ottin' is Boontling for "hardworking hops," and they're surely hard at work in this brew. Hop Ottin' starts with a strong floral aroma, which winds into a deep and complex body. In an intriguing balance, honey-drenched malts coat rich hop undertones. At length, the hops prevail, with a satisfyingly crisp finish. Hop Ottin' bites like a cankicky bluetail (Hop Ottin' bites like a rattlesnake looking for a fight.)

Tap at Which Brew. Orangish, clear, white head. Huge super fresh hop aroma. Big malt, with lots of fresh hops and good bitterness. Very easy to drink.

Clear aged gold color with a nice offwhite head. Very lovely smell, as well. Malts bursting through the ottin hops. The hops smell piney with some citrus notes. Also smells pretty sweet. Taste does not really match the smell, in terms of the hops. Alcohol is also present. Taste is heavily malted with a bitter aftertaste that lasts. As for saying "not completely an IPA," that is totally not true, as this has the character of an IPA, maybe not the overtly aggressive character that some think are outlining the style these days, but matches quite well with the idea. A nice IPA, though nothing to write home about.

Bottle. Pours a nice clear light copper and laces slightly all the way down the glass. Never completely gives up its head. Hoppy, and also slightly sweet nose with raisin. Not completely Cascade as I expected. Taste is malty and even a bit of smoke - like a strong Scottish Ale - with a nice hoppy bitter finish. not completely an IPA, but very good and different. Nice thick body and actually a little creamy with great bite and finish. Good stuff.

This one has what it takes to contend with the big boys. Do a blind taste test back-to-back with the Victory Hop Devil and see if you can rate them more than a a couple .1’s apart.

Aroma is hops, with something sweet kicking in with the background. Deep copper color. Decent hop level, nice bite, smooth, almost like hops, peanut butter, and alcohol. Decent taste, nothing special though.

UPDATED: APR 6, 2006 Orange pour with a small soapy head. Some lacing on the glass. Good Hop level but nothing there to really balance it out.

I need to rerate this one.

Bottled, Stockholm Beer Festival. Amber/Orange colour. Swimmingpool nose plus a little citrusy. Big hop flavour along with citrus. Reminiscent of Bedarö Bitter, but this is a bigger brew.

10.08.04 12 oz bottle thanks to Springslicker. You know, I’ve passed over this stuf so many times in the local beer store and it took a trade to get me to try it. Maple gold pour under a big, off-white head. Very nicely balanced: aroma right through the finish. Grapefruit pith acidity and bitterness over a superbe malt backbone. Hints of band-aid and gumdrop. Great complexity of banace in an everyday IPA...kudos. Thanks again, Jay.

Gets this hop-head’s vote for a repeat drink. Orange/Copper color with a three-fingered, white head, this had a strong citric aroma with floral undertones. Stronger malt taste than most IPAs, but has that serious bitter flavor that I enjoy. Great bitter finish.
