Hop-Heads, your dreams have come true! Hop Ottin' is Boontling for "hardworking hops," and they're surely hard at work in this brew. Hop Ottin' starts with a strong floral aroma, which winds into a deep and complex body. In an intriguing balance, honey-drenched malts coat rich hop undertones. At length, the hops prevail, with a satisfyingly crisp finish. Hop Ottin' bites like a cankicky bluetail (Hop Ottin' bites like a rattlesnake looking for a fight.)

On tap at the GingerMan in NYC. Hazy amber color with a small off white head. Nice citrus hop aroma with very little malt presence. Flavor is again citrus hops, but the malt flavor comes out more than the aroma would lead you to believe. A well balanced, very drinkable IPA.

Bottle (12oz). Poured orange-amber, hazy and bubbly, with a small off-white head. Aroma of resiny hops and plenty of rich malt, hints of cedar and butter. Taste is pretty balanced, I still get a lot of butter lightly roasted malt, but the hops kick in an stay the whole, long finish: bitter, resiny-grapefruity. Surprisingly full-bodied and creamy for a strong-hop west coast IPA - overall itís a little too bitter for me, but well made if not too complex - I like the cedar notes particularly.

A pretty good IPA; however, a bit on the sweet side. This baby packs a punch too.

Light amber with a rocky tan head. Aroma is bustling with citrusy hops. Flavor has a lot of hops, but they donít move me like the great beers do. You can throw a lot of hops into the kettle, but that doesnt guarantee something great will come out. This is a bit disappointing for #700, but I guess that is what beer is about. This is an okay IPA, but not much else and certainly (not in my opinion, at least) worthy of its rating here.

Pours caramel clear brown with medium lacing off-white head. Hop, light grass aroma with dusty hop, malt and hint of sweet background. Hoppy bitter aftertaste.

On tap at Orinos Northside. Pours a lighter tanslucent amber with a small off white slightly lacing head. Aroma is light for a double IPA as advertised at the bar. Although it looks like Ratebeer has this one classified as a standard IPA which now makes sense. Flavor is citrus hops, pine and malts.

Draught. Clear amber color with citrusy hop nose and nice flowery, grassy hop flavor. Nice hop bitterness as well. Tasty.

Bottle. Pours a golden-caramel bourbon color with a creamy white head. Much lacing! Aroma is thick and heavy with tons of hops. Flavor is unbelievable! Tons of hops that will satiate even the most off-the-wall HopHead! Excellent carbonation! A truly great beer, especially if you like hops!

Amber ale with creamy white head. Clean, high alpha hop accent. Citrus, orange aroma . Toasted malts in background. Bitter palate, strong hopped pale ale, even spicy with green rough bitter finish.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2009 On second evaluation, this is a pretty good IPA. Very piney, yet balanced with the malts. Not too sweet... AFTER MANY ANALYSES: this is a good IPA. A solid west coast IPA. Even more so than Green Flash. Itís got everything an IPA should have. Bitterness, dryness, and aromatic hops.
