COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop-Heads, your dreams have come true! Hop Ottin' is Boontling for "hardworking hops," and they're surely hard at work in this brew. Hop Ottin' starts with a strong floral aroma, which winds into a deep and complex body. In an intriguing balance, honey-drenched malts coat rich hop undertones. At length, the hops prevail, with a satisfyingly crisp finish. Hop Ottin' bites like a cankicky bluetail (Hop Ottin' bites like a rattlesnake looking for a fight.)

Poured with a color reminiscent of Liptons iced tea. Actually almost resembled the flavor of an unsweetened tea Also. Sweet at first, but then good Olí Hops snuck up on me and lingered on the back of my tongue begging to be replenished by another gulp....... Overall, I am Pleased with this one.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2010 Re-rate (2/1/2010): I didnít really like IPA back then and even if this is smoother and milder than I expected, having forgotten Iíd ever had this beer, it certainly deserves better than a 3.4. Anyway, the aroma feels a bit shy and closed off. No reason to up that. Itís nicely amber, lovely head with fine lacing so Iíll skip fiddling with the Appearance. Mild, full and soft caramel kicks off the flavour and then the hops take over. Not forcefully, but rather politely. Resiny mostly and and nicely long. Old rating (8/14/2004): Ar: 6 App: 5 Taste: 7 Palate: 3 Overall: 13 Golden orange and a huge Duvel-like head. Some aroma of dark toffee caramel. Carries into the flavour. Slightly burnt?

Orange body. Superb off-white head, mountainous, lively and foamy. Aroma is less intense thn I expected it to be, but the hops certainly come through. Hidden honey reminding malt behind the gigantic orangey, flowery and earthy hops. Highly citric bitter finish, long and satisfying. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, perhaps lacking a touch of malt richness, but it has a nice creamy feel. As straightforward as can be, directly to the point and efficient at it, but absolutely no stand out caracteristics.

Pours a copper color. Smells extremely hoppy. Taste is excellent, wonderful balance of hops not overpowering but very tasty. A little sweetness as well. An awesome IPA. Iíve always overlooked Anderson Valley for some reason but they make some good stuff.

pours a light reddish color with a good off white head that leaves substantial lacing on the glass. Very hoppy, a strong floral aroma and deep body, sweeter body with a crisp bitter finiah, scrumdidily oh!

Pours orangish/coppery with a big, creamy, off-white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, slight fruit, florals, and spice. Tastes hoppy, piney, with some fruit, citrus, and slight dryness at the finish. Nice balance and complexity. This one is great.

Clear, light reddish-brown body is topped by a medium, dense, yellowish head that lasts nicely. The aroma is distinctly fresh, leafy hops. Thereís a lot of centennial like almost grapefruit. The malt in the flavor is a bit of caramel and really not quite up to the level of the hopping, but this is a well-hopped beer. Lingering bitterness is strong but not overwhelming, harsh or unpleasant.

Great big frothy, white head. Light carbonation. Big floral hops aroma which starts off stong and biting and ends with a little citrus. Color is a slightly cloudy orange amber. Flavor is very well balanced. Good amount of malts to offset the delicious hops. Bit of grapefruit in there also. Finish is dry and bitter the way a good IPA should be. An excellent IPA that is a very easy drinking and smooth IPA.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2004 Great IPA -- nice pour, nice hops, and nice taste. This lacks any hugeness in any direction, but is just a very well balanced IPA but doesnít lose its balls. Great beer, a bit light, but just fantastic. Highly recommended if youíre too blown away by stone or smuttynose big A.

I picked this one up in bottle on a lark. I was pleasently surprised with this one. Nice pour with a cloudy yellow amber body and an average head. Bonus points for the fruity aroma and hoppy aroma. Taste was egually pleasing with gentle sweetness followed by a generous portion of hops, but not over the top. Iím glad that I have several more to enjoy.
