As I write this, my tastebuds are being held hostage by a band of very scratchy hops. It’s an incredibly bitter, astringent aftertaste with notes of pine and spearmint that gives this beer an unpleasant finish. It all started so well with notes of fresh bread and honey as well as a little stone fruit. There’s also lots of honey up front in the mouth before those bitter hops charge down your tongue and and start hanging from the roof of your mouth.

Bottle at Houlihan’s in Parsippany. Pours a hazy light amber complexion with dissipating opaque head. Lots of glass lacing. Faint hop and grapefruit aroma. The flavor is a piney hop balanced with malt. Quality brewer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At length, the hops prevail, with a satisfyingly crisp finish. Hop Ottin’ bites like a cankicky bluetail (Hop Ottin’ bites like a rattlesnake looking for a fight.)

Anderson Valley Hop Ottin IPA
A deep copper with a thick beige he'd that leaves soapy lacing behind - this opened with a bit of a spry of foam.
The aroma is dank resinous pine with some florality as well as a good amount of malt sweetness. It smells like a classic IPA.
Sweetly malty with a bitter piney hop bit on a beer that's got a pretty full body and a smooth mouthfeel. A decent no muss no fuss IPA.

Drank 08-04 with Pim and Bram in Cafe de Deut. Better than most beers of this brewery. Pretty rich in the hops, fine beer.
