3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackHaddock (2440) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 28, 2013
Pint, on-tap in Valhalla, New York on 18 Jan 2013.
Light amber towards golden in colour: small white foaming head.
This is one of those ’over-hopped’ IPA’s that the US West Coast brewers seem to like to produce. I quite enjoy them because we don’t see the style in the UK very often.
Citrus and spicy hop notes rule the nose and taste, the malts undetectable by me. Bitter and with a dry finish, you know it’s coming but it is still a shock after each sip or gulp.

Pours a deep copper color with tan head with good retention. Starts with hops up front and balances out with a nice malt flavor. Mouthfeel is pleasant. Nice IPA overall.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 WeissGary (197) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - MAY 26, 2013
Bottle. This is a delicious beer! Sweet hop aroma, wet hop taste upfront, full bodied sweetness on the tongue with superb malty highlight finished with a sharp mouthfeel and slight bitterness on the back of the tongue. This is an enjoyable beer; Quite a sweet and smooth IPA with a nice sharp edge to it! Fantastic!!

Pours a clear copper with a medium white head. Strong aroma of spruce with a hint of musty cheese. Medium to bitter taste that also reminds me of a cheese. The body is medium to full body with a somewhat thick and sticky texture, but it doesn’t stick to your mouth too much. It has a slight bitter finish. This is a very nice IPA that I wish I could get on tap.

Draught at Mad Mex. Poured dark amber with nice head retention. Mild hoppy aroma with spices. Slightly bitter. An average IPA.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Darwenus (405) - Virginia, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Poured bright, clear amber from the can with just an irresponsible amount of head. A mound of it. The aroma is citrus hops and sweet malt, and the flavor is hop forward with a slightly sweet aftertaste. More hops at the exhale. This is a pretty good IPA.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DavidWoodruff (262) - Windsor, California, USA - MAY 20, 2013
Aroma: Diacetyl and citrus.
Appearance: Copper/amber with thick white head.
Flavor: Biscuity malt, caramel and medium-high hop bitterness.
Palate: Medium bodied with a long bitter finish.
Overall: Nice IPA, although I prefer those with a more prominent hop aroma.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 alcaponejunior (363) - Texas, USA - MAY 18, 2013
Very nice looking, lightly coppery and clear with a very nice two finger head that lasted and left sheets of thick, sticky lacing down all sides of the glass.
Aroma is nice and hoppy, but there’s a nearly equal aroma from the malt base. Some caramel malt makes it way through, then earthy hops.
The taste is also pretty well balanced, but slightly skewed towards the hops. I like the malt base, it’s flavorful and the body is pretty full, but it doesn’t overpower the hops. Plenty of hops flavors assault your tongue when you drink this, I get an earthy hops presence first, then some citrus and pine.
Drinkability is high, as this one goes down pretty easy despite the medium body and strong hop bitterness finish.
They did a good job on this beer. I will have to try more beers from this brewer.
