COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop-Heads, your dreams have come true! Hop Ottin' is Boontling for "hardworking hops," and they're surely hard at work in this brew. Hop Ottin' starts with a strong floral aroma, which winds into a deep and complex body. In an intriguing balance, honey-drenched malts coat rich hop undertones. At length, the hops prevail, with a satisfyingly crisp finish. Hop Ottin' bites like a cankicky bluetail (Hop Ottin' bites like a rattlesnake looking for a fight.)

Bottle at home from Albert Heijn. Clear orange golden with white head. Big sweet malts, resin, honey, nectar and orangepeel fruitiness, some doughy yeastiness as well. Medium sweet, medium bitter. Full malty body with soft carbonation. Syrupy honey-like feel, more-bitter-than-sweet floral finish. Easy drinkable and enjoyable IPA.

Can at Jones Bday Party in San Jose, CA. Aroma is malts, honey, caramel and toffee with some minor floral hop notes. Taste is toffee, maybe even a little butterscotch with a floral / vegetal hop note. A sweet and malty take on the style (unlike an English IPA). Unique.

Darker amber pour with white head. Piney/citrus rush of aromas (be quick, it fades fast) with sweet malt in the background. Taste is fairly bitter, with just a hint of citrus from the hops. Carbonation is above average, maintaining half finger of foam. Mouthfeel is a bit slick, and finishes the same with a slightly astringent bitter bite.

Frisch gezapft. Dunkelbraun mit leichter Trübung und kleiner Schaumkrone. Fruchtig mit intensiven Citrusaromen im Antrunk, dann malzig. Gut ausbalanciert. Sehr lecker.

For an IPA, I found it overall to be very malty, nicely balanced with hops. But doesn’t match the description, didn’t notice any hoppy bite. After saying all of that, it is a great malty-style IPA, not much in the way of aroma or hoppy finish. Maybe the cans I bought were older, so the hops had faded over time.
